V2 Occasional No Holding Brake Malfunction

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Yah well i went on Wicked Twister numerous times and never noticed any screeching as prominent as V2.

And i just went to the park this past Tuesday, and the brake is still not working. Without the brake, it just isn't AS fun.

Its like wanting to take the NOISE out of car crash, thats just not possible

I believe he was referring to the screeching when it comes back into the station, not from the LIMs (correct me if I'm wrong). Great metaphor though! :D

Yea, that's what I was talking about.
Side note, has anyone noticed in line for V2 that the LIM's mess with the speakers?

I always though that was the sound of the LIMs going back into the Mic. Because from what I understand that Mic is always on.

^Wouldn't the mic just go to the speakers in the station? It messes up those rock speakers in the que too.

Dont know why the holding brake isnt working, but V2 has had problems for years including electrical (on most impulses its 60 seconds between launches, now on V2 its 90 seconds so yes Wicked Twister has way better capacity than V2) and major stress issues especially on the back tower.
I would assume the speakers being muffed by the lims is the same type of effect at Mr Freeze how the lights dim before it launches, sudden massive jolt of power.

But then again, I don't think a good crew could even dispatch in 60 seconds.

^ No, probebly not. It takes longer then that because you have to check lap bars and all of that stuff.

V2's holding brake will not be working again until next season. The crane they need to fix the LIMs on the back spike is too big to get into the park during the season.

First, V2 has LIM's on the back spike? And second, can't they get the crane in the park in the morning to fix it?

^Ya, I would rather have it running then having it sit there doing nothing. I love V2 and would hate to see it down that long.

Yes. The holding "brake" is infact LIMs. As for getting the crane in the park in the morning to fix it, apparently you aren't aware of the logistical issues involved in getting a 200ft tall crane in to an area of the park that is already developed. Also, V2 is one of the only major coasters in the park that is not located next to a service road.
