There has to be some kind of opening ceremony for the ride, whether it be on the media day (which I believe is Tuesday), or when the park is open to the public. I'm just guessing that if they do it on Wednesday, they might wait like a half hour so a crowd builds around the ride.
Another thing has popped into my head about all the theming within the ride. Someone brought up the time issue and I thought, "what about Disaster Transport?" That ride supposedly had a lot of theming and special effects when it opened as Disaster Transport, but very few of them are actually still operating. I wonder if the same thing will happen to The Dark Knight in a few years when the novelty of the movie wears off and it becomes just another ride at the park.
Fox Chicago news was covering Dark Knight this morning at 9 am. They had a boy and a news person riding the coaster with the cam facing them the whole time, so it didnt spoil to much of the ride for us. They didnt cover the pre-show area (like Great Adventure did on their media day)as the segment was short. They also had the podium setup in the distance of the camera shot while the news person was talking to Brooke Gabbert , so it looks like it might be a ceremony of some type tommorow. Its going to be a interesting day at the park tommorow..
Man that got me REALLY excited for tomorrow. There's a couple more videos from all the other stations, and they all seem to be using the same camera. WGN's has a little more ride footage tough, most of looks like its from the PR vid from SFGAdv. Also ABC is advertising TDK as the first coaster built since Superman...
I'll be at the park getting some pictures tomorrow, and hopefully being able to tape any opening ceremony they decide to have.
Yeah, i caught the abc news POV at 11:30 and it showed more detailed angles of it, a little more than i wanted to see at the time, but its cool, still excited though....
I went on it today and I can say that is exactly what I expected. It’s a Family ride that will be great for the Family. I believe this ride will be great for ages 7 and up. The ride is nice and smooth and moves fairly fast.
How come you got to go on it? That's cool you got to go on it. Im just simply wondering how you got to go on it, not trying to sound rude in any way just wondering that's all.
Gah, I might not be able to go tommarow like I wanted to. The pictures of the cars confirmed my fears, I might be too big for the ride. Damn me and my weight...
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/
Wow. I really looks fun. Hopefully I'll be able to ride it on Monday. I'm really exited for this new ride. It looks like it is themed really cool too. I'm verrrryyy exited.
Six Flags Great America: Ready for a fun, new season.
So does anyone know what time the ride will be opening tomorrow??? And if there will be opening day festivites since they did something to day already??
