Why cant we have a event like this at SFGAM???

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I know the area Ace Rep is on the site as well as other ACE members, and I know they havent had a event at SFGAM since Superman opened.
But why cant we have a event similiar to a quality of this event at SFMM???
We need a decent coaster enthusiasts event at our park again.

SFMM gets a lot of bad rep among enthusiasts and is trying to repair their image, which includes kiss-a**ing enthusiasts to get some good word of mouth about their park. Whereas SFGAm has always had a pretty good image in the Chicago/Milwaukee area and doesnt hold enthusiasts in high regard as part of their business plan, I know when Jim Taylor was the PR manager he wanted to host a enthusiast event at the park but uppers said no it had to be organized by/paid for by ACE (although to be fair, the park has had plenty of enthusiast events the past couple years such as Theme Park Review ERT, Coaster Con when they gave backstage tours and ERT on every ride in the park and such, and Fat Saturday).

No events since Superman opened, eh? I guess Fat Saturday in 2004 and Coaster Con in 2005 don't count then  Also letting ACErs have the last public Deja Vu rides, that seemed like a decent event. Also, there will be an ACE event at SFGAm in May this year.

That'd be pretty neat if we could have that at GAm.

At No Coaster Con they said they are planning on having an event with some TDK ERT, along with some other coasters and lunch.

I forgot about CoasterCon/Fat SAT, though you cant compare the two events to the upcoming TPR event in what is being offered and the price for the guest to attend. I dont recall a ace event at SFGAM giving us 3 1/2 hrs ERT on 7 coasters/event shirt/2 meals with the other goodies added for the cost of $20.

And there has been no one day ACE event at SFGAM that compares in the least to what TPR is getting.

Maybe ACE should get Alvey's help in planning events like this???

I just check the ACE site and they do have it posted for a event on May 10, but there were no other details listed. That is good news!!

But I hope it is comparable to the event at SFMM in what is offered in ERT/price!!

Now they just added a update on TPR about the west coast bash, and SFMM had nightime ERT where EVERY operating coaster in the park was running, now does anyone think we have ANY chance of getting something like that for the upcoming ACE event?? ERT time on 13 coasters for $20, now that was a great deal!!

Speaking of the ACE event, any updates yet on what will be operating and cost????

I don't think you realize how big the enthusiast community is over on the west coast. Half of TPR lives in a cali.

We probably wouldn't be able to have ALL of our coasters open for ert, but honestly, how many of you would ride all of them? I know I'd just be getting on my favorites the whole night.

I agree that we wouldnt be likely to get the 300 members Plus that they get for West Coast Bash, but with enough notice and advertising on the net etc, we could get at least half that.

And while I also wouldnt expect to get all coasters operating, I have been to ACE events like coaster con and day events and paid alot more than $20 and received alot less than what the West Coast Bash members received.

SFMM did a great job showing there appreciation to the people who attended, to bad SFGAM management doesnt act in the same manner.

if we had kept Tim Black or Ron Sevart for any real length of time, I bet we'd be getting the halfway decent treatment from management here. Although Hank Pastrami at No Coaster seemed ok, first time I've personally seen him though in well over a year of him at the park.

And no need to point out his name is actually Salemi, I just like changing it to various assorted lunch meats :D

I believe he isn't our GM anymore. I thought that John Curty is the park's GM now. :?

my bad, though technically Hank Pepperoni is the man in charge of the big picture, just now if something goes wrong, it's all Curty's fault rather than his. Sweet deal I think :)

If you think about it logically, operations have been horrible at Magic Mountain for a long period of time. It's definately earned a bad reputaition during that time. The reason why Magic Mountain's managment has been treating everyone at the coaster events so well is cause they're trying to rebuild a good reputation to attract people back to the park. The managment at Great America doesn't need to host coaster events or such because they haven't built up a bad repuation and assume that we know that they have some of the best operations from a Six Flags park in the country. And Great America doesn't have the competition that Magic Mountain has to face, so they already know that they'll have a steady stream of customers no matter what.

Oh Bob, also it could be possible to get 200 people easily if a coaster event was advertised cause the Deja Vu final ride got over 70 people alone (and that included both Ace members and people outside of Ace).

I agree that SFMM has a bed rep from what Ive heard/read and having been to the park one time.
So for them it is great to reach out and show they are trying to change things.
As for SFGAM, while it seem to be alot better than SFMM, the park still has many issues and would never be mentioned in the top tier of parks when it comes to customer service/cleanliness etc and should use things like coaster events/season passholder days etc as pr possibilties to get rid of the negative image that SF has a a company.
As for a steady stream of customers, Im sure SFGAM would be more than happy to see alot more than they already get, escpecially non pass holders who dont make mutiple visits but spend little cash.

You also have to remember that this event takes place in the off season when a park probably could give them all the attention. Sad for us, we're closed in the off season.

Alot of coaster events are held during the non off-season so a park can always off ERT/meeting w//managers/walkbacks etc and have some people from the PR dept handle situtations like this if they want to.
