Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Are the crowds usually really light on opening day?

It's my first season to for a season pass. Someone told me it opens up earlier for a season pass holder but in a way wouldn't that be a waste? But more people will buy a season pass to go early to ride DKC when no ones there. Is this true about opening earlier?

There is going to be a preview of the Dark Knight for season passholders before the ride opens, however I would expect the line to be very long for it. The ride gets a little over 400/hour, and there has certainly been a lot more season passes sold and as we know from CAD, season passholders show up for perk events.

take a look at the info on TDK, and I think some of us might be dissappointed by it.. don't get your hopes up for anything.. it sounds like its going to be pretty lame

Well tell them they're wrong. A new coaster never opens on opening day. It's usually never ready.

oh no...not this discussion again. All I can say is then just don't ride it and then that'll be one less person in front of me!

but I worry about the April 26th opening date....seems like it may end up being a rush to get things in working order (then again...there will be 3 less rides so anything is possible)

It is most likely going to open around Memorial Day weekend, not with the park's general opening.

I'm thinking it is going to have a soft opening. Heck for all we know, they could be done by beginning of the season. It can't take that long to construct a mouse.. The make the debut on Memorial Day weekend.

I don't know about a soft opening, but maybe an employee preview night? I wasn't around this site the last time a coaster was built at SFGAm so I have no idea what they do.

^ I know for V2 they had a 'soft' opening. It was not suppose to open for another week or so. (Don't really remember exactly) I remember I was there when it first opened up. On the first train back row.

Chances are, the ERT session for Dark Knight will be very busy....and so will the extra 4th coasters after dark.

Well that is true, Shapiro has said repeatedly that new attractions/rides etc. should be ready for opening day, which of course is 100% correct. I would be very happy to see that happen in 2008. Time will tell. :)

Yep. April 12th! I almost got into two accidents that day driving home from school because this truck felt like tailgating me  Well, i predicted May 3rd from the beginning because, to be the same weekend it would have been May 4th but it's a leap year next year.

The ride isn't built for intensity. it's built for theming.

I'm with you on that, my april Cubs game this past season got snowed out.

As for when the ride opens, i know only time will tell what actually happens, but i specifically remember them pushing hard to open Wiggles World on opening day, and by noon, it was open. And i know this is a bigger project, but i think it'll be top priority to open it for opening day.

As for V2, it DID open memorial day weekend, i specifically remember watching a little version of myself answering questions about the ride on ABC (what a great way to end jr. high  )

Finally, i'll hopefully be there for opening day like most of you, and this year, second in line for Viper ain't gonna cut it, i'll be first this time! (that's a competition for whoever was number 1...i believe he was on a Midwest Coaster site of some kind...)
