they used to have alot of fog and red lighting at the bottom of the tower which was really cool, but they dont do it anymore. Basically now it's just a name and they set up huge speakers that play music and do some sound effects that sync up with the ride cycle.

Im pretty sure they had it last year, ive always liked the sound effects.

They shouldnt chnage the name year-round, Hellavator isnt keeping with the theme of that portion of the park.

^Oh yeah, like the name "Giant Drop" just screams a southwestern theme. :D
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Perhaps for more realistic themeing, they could litter the surrounding area with severed feet. Yay for Six Flags!

Since it has a mining theme to it, with m,ining items in the que, I think the the name is fine, and much better than Hellavator.

Now if they would enclose the ride and add hellish effects ala Tower of Terror, then the name change would be fine. And have the hellish theming have a western aspect to it.
Now what would be a great addition to SWT would be a interactive dark ride based on the Clint Eastwood character from his westerns like The Good The Bad and The Ugly/Fistfull of Dollars or Unforgiven. That would be great fun, give you alot to shoot at and keep with the western theme.

And I think it is crass to make light of a teenage girl suffering a very serious injury on a similiar ride.

Before you get dropped there used to be a sound effect of a cable snapping and I know that won't get played again since the accident.

It's not "crass" and they're not "making light" of the girl herself, they're dissing the park. Calm yourself, jeez. This is called having fun and joking around with one another. Some people like to call this normal friend-like behavior. Anywhom all they pretty much do now is add some theme music with the ride and add a sign. Just adds to the fun really.

Pretty close during the normal operating season, but during Fright Fest Demon blows Hellevator out of the water... Could be a close race if they would bring back all the elements they had the first time Hellevator came to be.

If Hellevator doesn't return this year I will be very upset. If they took it off the list because of the SFKK incident, well, whatever...

Not being insensitive, because that incident is horrific, just can't draw similarities from a cable slicing off feet and a ride themed to drop you into Hell. The world we live in somedays needs a huge reality check.

Well I dont think there ganna use any cable snapping sound for a while. And ive heard that the theme was really good the first year, so it could be close between demon and hellavator if they go full theme.
