Is splashwater Falls being removed??

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

The next coaster we get will be somewhere around Ragin Cajun's intensity. I don't care if parents spend, because I know they do, but if all you do is add kids areas, eventually thrill seekers will stop going to parks. So what if we are the minority, alienating any groups of people is just wrong.

**RANT OVER**

That's true, but the park has always been some what geared to thrill seekers. But families are the groups that will spend the most. A thrill seeker will most likely buy a season pass and go a bunch a times threw the season. Buy food outside the park, buy maybe 1 shirt, and not spend any money in the park. But a family will buy 4-6 daily admissions, buy food in the park, buy clothes, games, toys, ect. And if they have a good time, they will want to go once more. So take all the money and double it. Now if the park is attracting families, then more families will come. Which will bring in more money then thrill seekers.

So since Six Flags really needs the money, then this isn't a bad thing at all. Would you rather have this...or Six Flags being bankrupt still and continue closing parks?

^ Very good point.
I agree with Thomas World replacing, say, Looney Tunes? Since CCN has Spaceley's.
As someone mentioned before, I think a ferris wheel (a giant one) is a great idea. Like you said, it holds much capacity, is a great ride for anyone, and runs well. A wheel is something every park has, pretty much, except for ours.
All in all, I wouldn't miss SWF. My sister hates water rides anyway, so I only rode it once with a friend and found it "pretty fun".
Eh.......I got nothing.

i love the ride, but the parks need money. if they could replace loony tunes cause i heard its getting less popular, then that'd be great. i do hope by 2010 that we do get a new coster though.

In some ways, the company goong bankrupt might be the best thing for our park.

If SF went bankrupt our park would be sold to another owner who wouldnt be saddled with 2 billion in debt like the company is now. Im sure our park makes money and helps to bankroll some of the other less profitable parks. Im sure our park could find a new owner and considering all the problems SF has that "might not be a bad thing for this park".

Cedar Fair anyone? Look how they fixed up Great America in Santa Clara. We would be getting awesome coasters every couple years or so. Not to mention if Cedar Fair operated the park, my season pass would work at Cedar Point!

I think that the SWF location would be a great one for a Ferris Wheel. It's a family ride, doesn't take up alot of space, and then Great America could use the space left to expand the car ride and make it more interesting. Looking at older photos, the ride used to be a little more interesting and not quite as jammed around SWF and against the Scenic Railway as it is now.

Then again, I don't see anything wrong with a Thomas area either...but that wouldn't be the best location for it. I think the Raceway really makes it difficult to use that location well, because anything there would have to be tall enough to be seen, and then they would have to find a way to get guests over the Raceway, which would be a pain for a kiddie area and could be a pain if the new ride becomes popular with families. If they ever did decide to make that area a kiddie area, it might be easier to just remove the Raceway then dealing with getting people over it. Or if they did build a Thomas area there, they could use the Raceway's course as the obligatory train for the area. I don't want the Raceway to go, but I could see how they might think that keeping it in its current form isn't worth it.

As for the other kiddie areas, I think they should keep the Looney Tunes area simply because we have had the Looney Tunes characters in our park since the beginning, and made it possible for Six Flags to get the rights to use them in the first place. Still, it does have more land to work with than CCN does...

And I think that Great America is fine under Six Flags. They're getting their act together, and I think that our future under Six Flags looks better than it has in years. True, I don't care for the push for ads and sponsorship, and the debt is still an issue, but I'm not sure that I'd be so happy if GA was being run by Cedar Fair. As much as I loved Cedar Point, I would rather our park be owned by a company is capable and willing to spend money on GOOD theming, and I there are other reasons that I don't care for that idea (I'm not convinced that Cedar Fair has really done all that much to benefit the other Great America, although not being owned by Paramount anymore is a HUGE step forward).

our park could use a ferris wheel like the one at st louis. its a FAMILY RIDE and it would give you a great view of the park and little kids would love it. Loony tunes could be redone, but they should leave the ball place. im a teen and i even enjoy it. we spent about 30 minutes there on a school trip to SFGAm.

Getting ride of SWF could be becasue of maintnece issues. Shapiro wants the parks to get out of debt so they could and should start saving little by little.

Now they need to get rid of operation spy girl. worst show i've seen in a theme park in years. i left early it was so bad. and her entrance was obvious, i even told my friend shes coming outta there.

i cant believe they made such a big deal about it.

I know this has been mentioned many times before, but a huge ferris wheel would be awesome. Maybe a little larger than the size of the ferris wheel at Navy Pier.

I bet they'll keep looney tunes national park and take down cartoon network. The cartoon network stuff is way outdated and unpopular. Also, if you noticed, they closed down the back part of cartoon network for some reason.

From screamscape:

We’ve also heard rumors about possible cutbacks for Fright Fest this year due to low attendance trends caused by the switch from thrill rides to a family focus in the park. Guest surveys are telling Six Flags that the public knows Six Flags for their RIDES and not their SHOWS, so it seems the addition of Spy Girl was a big mistake and that thrill seekers have ventured off to other parks for their thrills this season. So now we have the reason why they dropped the plans for Thomas Town and will be moving forward with the rumored addition of a new ride in 2008.

Maybe the ferris wheel is coming.

Maybe it is, or maybe it's some kind of 4D ride or something on the lines of that. I'm just a curious guesser, but I'm sure we will figure out something soon!

The intestiy is building. I wanna know what there building. Cartoon network could be redone, but i think they should keep spacely's because its a big attraction for the younger ones.

If splash waterfalls is removed i think it will be replaced by a ferris wheel or something similiar.

If CCN gets redone i think they would retheme the coaster and turn the rest into Thomas.

And out of curiousity where do you think they'd put a coaster if and when they get a new one.

I also saw that, and i figured that they must not open them, becaus ethey dont feel its worth paying two employees to rn rides for so few guests now that school has started. but who knows their could be other reasons.

I actually beleive that rumor but I don't think they'll put in a ferris wheel. (Beleive me, I want one though) They'd probably put another thrill ride in there if they want to make it more thrills because of the attendance.

Id much rather see SF owning the park than Cedar Fair. The entertainment at Cedar Fair parks are a joke compared to SFGAm and CF has no charectors other than the Peanuts charectors that they dont even use anymore. Cedar Fair has stripped all the theming/charector out of Knotts and I havent seen any improvement at GA in California (Orbit was coming back anyway, CF didnt "bring it back").

They will probably say something at "No Coaster Con" this winter. But they probably wont make anything official until spring or so.

But its screamscape.....I would laugh if they took it down and didn't put anything back up. All it takes is one rumor to make an up rise and make it believable by everyone.

Usually a big hint is given out at the SF conference call. That's when we found out about SFHH in '05.

Uhh, you do realize that now Cedar Fair is about 2 Billion dollars in Debt after the Paramount Parks take over right?

The main park needs to make room for some Coasters and/or "Thrill/Flat Rides!!! What's not to say that SFGAm won't think of getting rid of those splash/log/flume rides now, to make room for coasters and thrill rides in the near future!
