Giant Drop

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Stickmassacre on May 22nd, 2006, 6:52 pm
First off, I'm scared of heights. I don't freak out physically because that's just idiotic but I get a little freak mentally. I was six flags on the 20th with my friend and he went on GD and I just watched. It didn't look that bad but I chose not to go. He said it was really high but the drop wasn't that bad.

So I just wondering how intense is GD and does it really feel like you're extremely high up?

It's an amazing feeling when they release the car, the feeling only lasts two seconds, but if there isn't a long wait, it's worth it.

Have you been on the raging bull? that's a 208 ft drop.. the GD is only 200 ft drop. If you can do the bull then GD is nothing.

Giant Drop is a excellant attraction and well worth trying for the first time.
Like a earlier person said, the a earlier person said, the initial feeling you get when the cxar is released is just great, and even better when you go on the attraction during FF.

Your problem wouldn't necessarily be the height, but rather that "stomach in your neck" feeling. That is quite intense on Giant Drop, but the height isn't any worse than anything else in the park and there isn't much else too it, so give it a try.

The drop is just over 200 feet. The tower itself from the ground all the way to the nice big strobe light at the top is 227feet high.

Ever look back at the top of Raging Bull towards Giant Drop and notice your at almost the same height?

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

I think Giant Drop would be much cooler if it went up and down a couple times instead of just once. I think Cedar Point has one like that, but I'm not sure.

As for the scared thing, its pretty intense but it only lasts a few seconds. I think everyone gets scared on it, escpecially at the top where its like "When is this thing going to drop? Is it now? How about now? No, NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Anyway, just ride it, and if you don't like it, you never have to ride again! Good luck.

Giant Drop in my opinion is almost entirely mental. It's intense, but if you can handle RB, I don't see why Giant Drop is so bad. If you can get past your brain telling you that it's scary, it will be an easy ride.

Giant Drop is not that bad. It gives you an adrenaline rush. If you think Giant Drop is scary, try Acrophobia at SFOG. Now that ride is insane.

Its 10 seconds from when all the cars begin to slow to the top and 3 seconds once all 6 cars hit the top.
