Logger's Run being refurbished.

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

At Kyles Coaster World he has a pic of a sign by Logger's Run that says this ride is being refurbished for 2004. Any one know what they could be doing to it? The only thing I can think of is a possible paint job.

Routine maintenance. Loggers was really screwed up earlier in the season, thats why Clipper (IMS) was open and not Loggers. There's a part of the drive mechanisim for the turntable that needs to be replaced.

That would be really cool if they fixed it so it could use it's second drop. Then they can have more capacity and get rid of Ice Mountain Splash. Then a new coaster!I know, I'll shut up now....But seriously, it'll probably get a new paint job, and the tubes will get refurbished so it's smoother. That's really all I can think of.Now I'll shut up for good.

Next year, I hope they either tear it down or always run both IMS and LR. I can't stand to see them only run one, and seeing it just sit there.

Well IMS is for those who want to go on a ride of the kind and come off 9 times out of 10 completely dry. Loggers is for someone who wants to get a decent amount of water on them, and then of course there is SplashWater Falls and Roaring Rapids where it is almost always a soaker.

Yeah, on loggers run you get more water on you, but I like IMS better becuase I think the drop is better becuase it doesnt have that double drop feauture like LR has.

This may be wishful thinking but maybe they have to change part of the ride so they can take down IMS and put a new coaster there. Maybe part of loggers in in the way of part of the coaster plans.Probably not, but that would be cool.

I think if they took out one of them, it would be Loggar's run instead of Yankee Clipper, I mean Ice Mountain Splash. I'm shure that SFInc has some sort of contract with the Ice Mountain Spring Water company that now shares the name with the ride.Unfortunately I am one who likes Loggar's run a lot better than IMS. You most definately get more drenched on LR. It is a water ride after all, and that is the purpose of a water ride; to get wet.I think it would be sad to see either ride go as so many marriot rides have gone. maybe they could take out one of the flumes and put Sky Whirl in place of the station. That would be fun to be twirling around above the mini lake area.Truth be told, I would rather see one of the flumes go over seeing another coaster go.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name

It is ok you get more wet than IMS because it is like a wall hitting the water while IMS cut through it better.
