Most of the perks they are offering won't mean much to me, but it is a good idea. Only things I would be interested in is extra bring a friend free tickets or free food/drink.
I'm agreeing with Scream scape on this one. I'm just waiting for them to do one of three things. The first is limit the season pass to during the week. The second is to limit the amount of days you can use the pass. The third, and most likely, limit what parks the pass is good at.
I fully expect that the season pass to turn into a Cedar Fair deal. You pay a price to get into your home park and then double plus that get into the rest of the parks. I can see $125-$150 range for the pass plus parking. They already got me for $135 plus tax, why not more is their thoughts.
Why did they only make it available for like one day? That's crazy. I just got it in my e-mail like last night, and didn't feel like taking the survey at the time, I was busy. So, what did it say?
You were right on the weekday deal (wish I worked, stupid lack of decent jobs) but it makes scene. The weekend draw in huge numbers of people and fill the park without SP holders. Disney does the same deal with offering a FL resident pass that is only good for off season times (aka no summer or X-mas.)
The survey I did was about a rewards system for the park, done in 2 parts.
The first was rewards based on the amount you went and number of rides you went on. There would be an e-mail sent to you after each visit. The rewards at the beginning would be discount and such. After a while, you would get free things. The ones I remember being listed were free bottled water, free tickets, free hats and six flags flip-flops.
The second system of rewards was based on how you spend in the park. Would be done on food/drink, souvenirs, post ride stuff and up charge rides (bring a friend tickets were not listed.) The rewards would be on the variety. The survey also asked if the system would encourage you to buy a pass or use it more often.
Honestly, the randomness of the rewards is what bothers me. I would get if it was a contest where you got an entry for each visit by not a rewards system. On the same token, I understand where they are coming from. If they offered something massive, say a TV as a random example, you bet I will be there everyday I can swiping my pass to build up to it.
The survey was about the possiblily of SF's starting a free program for season passholders. and if this program would make you more likely to get a season pass, or renew your current pass in the future. Then they offered inducements like free shirt/bb cap/more bring a friend in for free coupons/free souvenir bottle/exit pass etc, and asked you how these would influence your decisions and hinted that after you visit a park, that soon there after as part of the program you would get a email offering you a perk, so the more you visit the more perks you get. They had you rank which ones you liked best, and also mentioned the possiblity of a program where you would get more perks based on how much money you spend in the park, which im guessing would have to mean that your seasonpass would be swiped when you make a purchase to keep record of how much you spend.
I saw nothing in the survey that made me think they would limit how often, or what days you would be allowed to use your season pass, nothing to indicate any blackout dates.
Yeah, I didn't take the survey, everything sounds ok I guess, however as to limiting how you could use your pass, I don't think would be legal unless such details were told to you before you purchased the pass. If they suddenly said you couldn't use your pass on weekends, that would basically amount to breach of contract and you could request a refund or probably take some sort of legal action.
Universal sells season passes at a discount that have quite a few blackout dates. Other than that I cant really think of any other parks that sell passes with blackouts, except of course Knotts where no passes are accepted during their Halloween event which is clearly explained when you buy a Knotts pass, and I believe any other Cedar Fair pass now.

And I agree that SF would have to announce the blackout dates before they sol you a season pass.
Disney has blackout dates and months on their seasonal pass only. The regular pass is good everyday of the year unless they go into Phase 2 closing of the parks on ultra busy days. There is a reason the regular season pass is over 400 for just the Orlando parks. In Cedar Fair I know Knott's, Carowinds, Wonderland and few others (the season pass info says all seasonal events are not include in the passes.) Cedar Point's Halloween event was actually the only one listed that it WAS good at. There are other smaller parks that do that during Halloween events to.
The thing is the program would data gold for the company. They can look and see how much each pass holder spends per-visit. If they were to see a large number of pass holders went during X times and spent little, they could blackout the dates. Screamscape suggested that the perks system could be used for blackouts or just to see how much to charge for a pass.
I don't see this happening but only allowing season pass use would mean almost nobody would want one that doesn't reside right next to the park. Not everyone with a season pass can skip work in the summer or even summer school and their daily activities to go to the park. Weekends are the most season passes are used for a reason. If they are worried about people buying enough season passes now, I'd love to see the drop in sales after this horrible idea.
Im surprised SF didnt start this years ago when all other companies did. Busch, Disney, Universal, and Cedar Fair all have different types of passes with more incentives for the more expensive ones.

But the point is the place would be packed without the season pass people there. The Cedar Fair park's Halloween events are packed and most parks don't allow season passes to be used those days. Even if the park were to blackout season passes at all the Fright Fest events, I would not foresee a huge drop for the park.

I agree with you there. They might as well make a regular and super pass for the park. It cost 139.99 with parking for a pass her already, Just make a $140 super pass and get it over with.
On a side note, Six Flags really needs more then a Pass holder night. The Cedar Fairs parks offer at a min ERT once every two weeks on a coaster. Cedar Point alone offers ERT every morning. The random ERT they had during Fright Fest this last year was outstanding and should be considered a success. I even met a few people in the park who were going to get one day tickets (which would have cost something like 45 with tax) and instead bought 2 season passes.

Though the main reason those exist is because they place them on the same dates as bring a friend for free days for SP holders, that way they upgrade to a SP to stay for CAD with their friends.
There is NO POINT to get a season pass (which I did last week... )..probably going to get used just as much as last year...if you can't use it on a weekend when you are more likely to have time to go. Yes, there are on average less people during the week. However, I don't plan on by myself more than once and everyone else is likely to be busy during a weekday. People usually go with others to the park. DO you see your friends or family going on a weekday and not making a big deal about it? At least more than once?
They are NOT blacking out days! It was just mentioned that the passes are capable of being blacked out for certain days. Kind of like if a season passholder gets banned. Their pass will be blacked out through it's expiration. Screamscape went on just to think what Six Flags could do with those capabilities. It doesn't mean it's going to happen. The whole idea of the survey was to find ways to get people to come more, not find ways to keep them out. There's a reason why the current set season pass price is the lowest it has been for quite awhile. We are in a frickin recession and they want to find a way to get people into the Six Flags Parks.

Which is a great idea. But right now, the only benefit of a pass outside of being able to visit the park is a coupon book. My point was how much would ERT once a week effect the number of passes sold?

Offering a pass holder night in September for a few hours is a slap in the face to all the people who live far, have jobs, go to school and can't go to the park for less than a regular operating day. Simply too far and in September?! It's not open long enough to warrant going over an hour with traffic.

Thus why I said there should be ERT each week or 2. Six Flags does it this way to save money over giving ERT weekly or monthly. That cost money to put workers in there an extra hour. On top of that, how many people would by a season pass because of it? Do I think ERT would brink in more people then one night in September? Yes I do, but I also get why they do it.
This not Six Flags way to spite people who live an hour away. If they truly wanted to do that, they would offer ERT On Tuesday mornings before opening at 9 am. It's all a mater of priories. Some will pick work over park others will pick park over work. Neither group is wrong, just their own opinion.
Offering a free friend day during weekends AND at least a day or two during Fright Fest would increase MY chances of buying a season pass. They give you all these days back-to-back and they are all pretty much during the week when you barely have enough time to go once let alone Tuesday-Thursday. It is a cheap shot to make it seem like you will really benefit from it.

Which is why they can do it those days. Big thing with Fright Fest is the place is packed without a bring a friend day. This year they did have the tickets for bring a friend on closing weekend if you bought your 2009 pass during Fright Fest. The other free ticket with the 09 pass was for any day before Fright Fest. That right there shows they have no intentions on allowing people in free during Fright Fest.
