What Would you say were Great America's Best Addition To The Park and the Worst Addition to the park.
IN MY OPINION
Best: Raging Bull or Hurricane Harbor because their investments have paid off significantly.
Worst: Deja Vu or V2 because they have low ridership and high Maintenance costs.
V2 is more reliable than Deja Vu ever was and has a lot of people on it each day. V2 is very expensive to maintain because it uses so much energy so quickly but it seems to be sufficient enough. With so much land around Great America, they should expand the water park and re-apint Raging Bull darker colors that don't seem so faded and south of the border. Perhaps red and black like X2 at Magic Mountain?
2: Where would they expand the waterpark? To the Buildings across I94 that Gurnee wouldn't let them build there anyway because they have an "Aquatic Center"?
But on the Subject of Repainting Raging Bull, How about Bright Red and Silver Supports?
I think V2 was a good investment the first year when it had alot of intreast. Bull is always a popular ride being tallest, fastest and longest in sfgam
God bless NIU Next SFGAm trip: Today May 1st SFGAm '10 ride count-53
Adding Raging Bull was a great investment, and adding DeJaVue had to be one of the worst additions.
The colors of Raging Bull to me are fine, and I think the water park is more than big enough and I wouldnt want any more land taken away from the park itself to add to the water park. The shuttle arrea ccould be used for something much better than making the water park bigger.
-The Worst wasn't the creation of Deja Vu, but what they took away to build it. I'll never forget the first day I went and had no idea where Sky Whirl was. It was always a tradition with me and whoever I went with to have the final two rides of the night by Sky Whirl and Sky Trek Tower.
-The Best, I'm gonna branch off here and say the creation of Viper. Rarely were wooden coasters built from scratch like this one was in the mid 90s, the park needed another woodie, and they managed to take the Cyclone format and twist it into their own ride. One of my favorite rides in the park.
Best: I think that Great America's best investment was B:TR. Seriously, this ride is one of the greatest products of the 90's, and it is still one of the most popular rides in the park 16 years later. I'd have to say that Hurricane Harbor and the entire Southwest Territory (including Bull and Viper) is right behind it.
Worst: I'd probably also have to say that Deja Vu is the worst investment they made. From the construction delays, to the lawsuits, to the maintenance/reliability/capacity issues, it was just doomed from the start.
I'm going to steer away from the coaster theme a bit and say that Hurricane Harbor was a great investment. It gets some of the crowd out of the main park and it's kind of nice to go over there and relax a bit.
I thought Spy Girl was a terrible waste of money-Definitely a bad investment.
1) Batman, i'd say it was the first time our park was truely recognized
2) Raging Bull, definitely upped our thrill status to an appropriate level
3) Hurricane Harbor, such a huge year in general for Six Flags
Worst Ideas:
1) Deja Vu, for obvious reasons
2) Operation Spygirl, once again, for obvious reasons
3) Removing Hometown Park....if they weren't going to do anything with the space, why remove something that would always get riders?
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
Best: Raging Bull, Terror Twister, Demon logos, Crazy Buffalo Saloon.
Worst: Removing Shock Wave for Superman, painting Batman yellow, Jester's Wild Ride, Not having the Boo Line.
(Yeah I know, the "worst" catagory has things in it they did for obvious reasons, but I can still cry about them)!
Best: This is a toss up but i give the decision to build BTR the slight edge over building RB.
Worst: I would have to say Deja Vu was the biggest blunder in our park. It was a great ride but it took forever to get constructed and then in its early years it had major downtime issues.
Remember, there's nothing but air beneath the chair.
I don't get how people can say DejaVu was a bad idea at all
1. 2nd most popular ride in the park next to bull
2. 2nd most intense ride next to bull
3. With V2 attendence soared
4. It's not like SF could put anything more thrilling in that space without taking down SWF which was still popular at that time
Best Idea: Southwest Territory including all add-ons
Worst Idea: Having 2 mouses right next to each other
Best thing; adding hurricane harbor
Worst thing; wiggles world, this is a theme park that in the past has been known for some of the best coasters in the country! Why do we need another kiddie area when we already have two of them!
"The rides are GREAT, The shows are GREAT, the fun is GREAT. At Marriott"s GREAT AMERICA!"
^ Lets see, Cedar Point is the roller coaster capital of the world. What are they getting this year? Oh yeah, their fourth kiddie area. When will you people accept the fact that the world does not revolve around coasters?
