Bring a friend for free

Okay so, forgive me if a similar topic has been made but I looked and none answered my exact question. You see I want to bring my dad to SFGAm on opening day but he doesn't want to pay the full ticket price (I know, I know).
So I thought all hope of making opening day was lost BUT I vaguely remember being able to take him for free on opening day last year. What happened was when I bought my pass online they said to put in my desired date and I got a free ticket. Does that happen every year or am I being a major retard and forgetting that it was a one-time thing? Does that make sense?

Yes, it makes sense. That was a one time thing for who knows what reason. However, all pass members get $10 off tickets EVERY day. So his ticket would be $45 instead of $55.
