Johnny Rockets

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby greatamerica2003 on February 25th, 2007, 8:09 am
Johnny Rockets rumored to be moving into the Wascals location. This will not be a teble-service location, but counter service like everything else in the park. Employees may be wearing the standard Johnny Rockets white costume with a paper hat, but thats it there will be no waiters.

Also, free-throw skill game in front of restaraunt will be moved to the current location of the Turbo-Bungee, which has been dismantled.

I thought that Wascals location was for the Wiggles Yum Yum Cafe or whatever that was supposed to be called.

Im so tired of Counter Service. Counter Service is not family friendly. I thought we were a family park? The foods department really needs to shape itself back togther. Let me say it one more time, COUNTER SERVICE SUCKS!

MOD NOTE: There is no need for vulgar language here. It does not make you look big or bad, frankly it makes you look like an idiot!

I never like JOhnny ROckets their food always gave me a stomach ache just like Wascles always did. SO if it is truly coming to Six Flags its going in the right spot

I agree with all of you. We need more full service resturants. I wish that they would turn Crazy Baffalo Saloon back into a full Service Sit down. Disney has them Cedar Point has them.

heck even a resturant that is strickly buffet I would like

Crappy management and low wages = less satisfied employees/waiters and then none of them will care about being nice to guests. Smart move to eliminate sit downs, but it would be smarter to become a better department and have happy employees.

The one thing I loved about Johnny Rockets at CP was the fact that you could get FREE REFILLS on soda. I don't mind paying 2.50 for a soda that much if it's all I can drink. The food I had was very good, the fries were very under portioned though. Overall I think its a good move by SF.

Well, luckily, i've never been to one, so my judgements this year will be through the food, not the service. I'm assuming it's a burger joint of some kind?!

I've never been to one either, so I don't have any comments about the place.

However, I am kind of on the middle of the fence so to speek in regards to the "sit down style restaurants" VS "counter service". On one hand, you want something that gets the guests back into the park fast, so they can get on more rides and see more of the park during the day. On the other hand, it would be nice to have a few places where you could sit down, relax, and enjoy your meal.

Going full sit down style is probably not a good idea, as you would end up needed Q-Bots for the restaurants! :D Go on a busy Saturday to Gurnee Mills mall around 4 PM and you will see what I mean at RainForest Cafe and Ruby Tuesday.

So, I feel what the park needs to do is have a good mix of both "sit down style" and "counter service".

I'm not sure why Crazy Buffallo was switched to counter service, but if that went back to a sit down, and Johnny Rockets was a sit down, to me that would be a good mix in the park with all the current counter service places.

i miss crazy buffalo as a sit down. That was a cool place to go to take a break from the parks. I don't get that feel when I go to Angelos or Aunt Marthas.

Wierd thing is that there were no special announcement

There is no Offical Six Flags Press Release saying that they made an agreement with Johnny Rockets. If they were going to put that place in several parks for '07, there would of been some kind of announcement months ago. That happened with Papa Johns and Cold Stone

the announcement that Snyder bought JOhnny Rockets came Feburary 9th. Think about it. First they have to make an agreement with Johnny Rockets which takes time. Goldberg said they were looking into it which means there has been no solid decision. Which means they would have very little time to do anything about itDo they really have time to remodel a whole bunch of resturants chain wide to make them Johnny Rockets by the begginning of May??? They also have to train the employees how to make burgers and May is two months away!

It would be aslop up job and look bad

Its just wierd that the rumer would start off towards the end of OFF SEASON.

How do we know for sure that we are getting it?

Are there any announcements? NO

Do any of the Six Flags Parks say Johnny Rockets ? No

Yes Wendy Goldberg may have said they are wanting or looking into putting the chain into Six Flags but it does not mean for '07 or does it mean that we are getting it at all

Plus Wascleas is right by Wiggles World and Wiggles World is already getting Yummy Yummy Cafe. Great America is not going to make the stupid move of putting two new resturants next door to each other.

Well you'll be seeing it a lot... Mostly at SFGAdv, SFNE, Here, SFDK, SFOG.

And for here it makes sense at Wascals for 2 reasons.

#1. Wiggles is going in right next to it, so you might as well rebuild it as its right there.

#2. We need a good sitdown restaurant again.

That and other reasons too, ones that can't be discussed.

^Haven't we stated that this one WON'T be sit down? If that's the case, it wouldn't take much to change out, just a sign change (which could simply be a banner) and a new set of recipes for a cook, which doesn't take months to learn. However, it is kind of odd not to mention it officially, but that could still happen at a later day when things get settled.

Oh and to LAFFfan's comment about the relaxing feeling, I actually DO get that feeling from Aunt Martha's. With the classic feeling of Whizzer in the background, eating a plate of good chicken and mashed potatoes in that patio is more than a relaxing oasis for me. And it's too bad that this isn't seen elsewhere in the park.

Snyder already stated in a press release that there will be Johnny Rockets Expresses added to Six Flags parks. It is in the take over announcement.

Cs6153:

You can keep doubting what is being posted here, but some of the people making these claims knows what is going on even before announcements are made.

Since Snyder now owns the Johnny Rockets chain, I really don't believe Six Flags has to go through the normal hurdles like with Papa Johns or Cold Stone.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Aunt Marthas and Angelos feel like Cafeterias.

Crazy Buffalo you could order a meal off a menu or go to the buffet.
I don't know if its just me, but I like full serive like Crazy Buffalo had.

Apparently SFSTL is attempting to renovate the Screen Stars diner into a Johnny Rockets Express. This diner is currently a fifties-style counter service restaurant, so it would not take much more than a change of the sign outside to make this into a JR. But, alas, things move at a snails pace at SFSTL, so it probably will not happen this season. Also, the Wok n Roll is supposed to become a Panda Express. Does GAm have a panda exp?

Yes, we have a Panda Express in the Farmer's Market area.

It is not a full Panda Express in which you can pick your meats, but instead has designated Combos. Still much better than standard park fare.
