i don't think it's being racist. No matter what job you work at, they have specific rules. If a person doesn't like the rules, then that's too bad. I have a friend who works at the park whose hair was to his shoulders, and he too had to cut it, and he's white. If you don't like the rules, then don't work there, plain and simple.
Its the same at most franchises that are very widely known. I work at AMC theatres and the dress code is almost identical to six flags. Our uniforms are the same too just different colors. They dont allow many hairstyles long hair for guys, dyed hair, or spiked hair/mohawks and such. They also dont allow any earrings on guys and one on the earlobe for girls and no showing tattoos. No jewelery either except one ring and a watch. Its not meant to be racial jsut extremely specific and no exceptions for anyone really. Im just lucky my managers are nice enough to let me where all my earrings and I have 11 on my ears.

This isnt a racial issue at all, not that race baiting groups wont try to make it one.
If the people involved in this case with SF dont like the hair policies that they were aware of when hired, then go get a job somewhere else that has less restrictive polices on how long your hair is or what hairstlye you want.
The fact is that if a white guy had this happen to him nobody would be hearing about it right now. Sorta sad, but true. It's unfortunate but still this guy's decision to walk away from his job. They don't seem to tell anyone that this guy's hair was still a foot long. Think about that guys, look at your hair right now, it's probably only 3 inches or so long. A foot is still bad, espicially if it's coming out of the sides of his costume!
No case, Six Flags wins.

I completely agree with all of you, especially if it is stated as a policy. However, I do find some concern in the matter if the park is trying to portray an "All-American" image as stated by the gentleman in the article. America is suppose to be considered as a melting pot where people from different walks of life and various cultural aspects should be recognized (including hairstyles). I'm curious as to how Six Flags defines the phrase "All-American".
i guess the nba is racist too for making a dress code, i think its just that that "thug" type image can give young children(whatever race it doesnt matter) the wrong idea,
Ya because someone HAIR is really gonna affend anyone, thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard.

The fact that they said "All-American" could put them in a pot of hott water real fast, expecially since the article states that most of the people that were told to change hair were black. think about it
I totally agree with this. honestly, i dont GET why someone having HAIR would be offensive....i just dont, and never will. This is supposed to be the land of the free, were people can express there opinions, i dont agree with policies on HAIR!!! If all people have time for in this world is to complain because someone has a Unique hair style that thats just SAD and they need to get a life.
My cousin had about six inches of hair that was covering his face... Last I heard they had him cut it to work there. If the guy had a foot of hair, that really wouldn't cut it...
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

It's not offensive, it's just clean. It is the land of the free like you said, so an employer is perfectly allowed to set dress codes that should be followed. I cut my hair for my job, i think that if you need to make a haircut , yes, a haircut, that's all this is, a national piece of news then you need a life, and you need to learn how to not be greedy.
six flags wants their employees to look professional. If you're a guy and you have hair twelve inches down your back, is that really professional? Rules are rules, and if that's what six flags wants, then that's what they're going to get.
I don't have a problem with the company presenting a professional image. I do have a problem with them saying that they want an "All-American" image. Again, my question to this matter is what do they consider as "All-American".
Hmm...well there are appearance requirements for any job, espcecially big corporate owned buisnesses. At McDonalds you can't have "excessively colored" hair, one earring in each ear and one piece of jewelry. At Shoe Carnival, you can't have any visible tatoos or facial piercings. As someone else said, they have the right to ask employees to look a certain way.
I'm not saying I agree with it...but it seems to me they just want a bunch of cookie cutter-looking workers. But that's their buisness and no one is forcing anyone to work there. I'm sure someone can find a place that doesn't really care about appearance; where its more about the quality of work than how you look.
