A Little Too Clean Park

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Maggie&meSFGAm? on June 9th, 2006, 7:37 pm
I have found some instances of cleaning crews to not really do a darn thing. They have very good reason to not do a darn thing. There is NOTHING to pick up!! So, why do employees need to clean every (put your time in) if there is nothing to pick up.

I saw someone stand just stand in area for about 20 minutes just looking for people to make a mess. There was none, and this is a big waste. Forget all this cleaning stuff. Yes, there should be employees that do clean the park, but don't have it as often as they do now especially when there's nothing to clean. I'm not blaming the employees whatsoever, but cleaning nothing is stupid!! Open another ride instead!! :D

I noticed that each bathroom has a cleaning person every day. While I think its a good idea, I wonder where they are getting all this extra money to pay these extra cleaning people? I noticed the soda prices went down this year, but parking went up.

Maybe all those people who are cleaning don't have much to do now but when the park starts getting busier, I'm sure they'll be plenty busy. Especially around Fright Fest. Last year the place was a sty.

Soda prices went down? Do you mean the vending machines? Because as of opening day, they were the same price. I also believe the cups were the same, too.

I meant the 20oz bottles, I believe they were $3.50 at some point, now they are back to $3.00.

They were always $3.00 (the ones in the Eagle queue were $2.75)

I think its a good thing that they want to keep the park clean especially when its really busy. If they got nothing to do send them home and save a couple of bucks on their payroll. But still would you rather see something gross on the floor when your walking on HH or use a really dirty bathroom with no TP. So its not that bad having them in there even if they got nothing to do especially keeping the tables and chairs clean where you have to eat your food.

For some reason I thought they were a different price last year. Maybe I'm thinking of Kentucky Kingdom.

Seriously it's like bring your own snacks into theaters. But I guess it is a profitable idea. Since a majority of people have to buy them since SfGam is open mostly in the summer and it's the only thing there besides some water fountains.

This is about the most ridiculous topic I have yet seen on this forum! Now you are worried about the park being a little too clean? No doubt you did not see it in the early to mid 1990's when bathrooms were filthy, trashcans were overflowing, and gang activity was present! You should be eternally grateful for the changes made this year, for the park has never looked or performed better. Mr. Shapiro deserves applause and I know many, many people who agree! Get a life and become concerned about really important things!
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!

Some of you need to decide on what you like and dislike with our park. You want this and that, but when you get it, you're unhappy and want something else..

Speaking of Clean, I was told that someone in the Bathroom was Praising Six Flags for how clean the bathrooms were. They said that they were the cleanest public bathroom they ever seen. People are taking notice of the clean bathrooms, so the money is well spent. I don’t know if you noticed but they have been also cleaning the garbage cans. I mean scrubbing them down till they shine.

i personally like a clean park. I like the bathroom attendants in the bathrooms cleaning them when they can. I have no complaints. I'd rather have a too clean park than a dirty hellish hole park with crap all over the place.

I've also noticed frequent replacement of the "smoking/non-smoking area stickers" on the garbage cans

I also agree that this is a odd thread!!!!
Im glad that the company is doing a excellant job this year keeping the park/bathrooms clean, it adds to the atmosphere not to go into a bathroom and be grossed out.
Of course the one thing that could be cleaned is the puke from LAST YEAR that is still on the wall as you exit Raging Bull, but other than that the park have been very clean and the cleaning crews deserve a big hand for a job well done.

There is no such thing as too clean! There are numerous cleaning employees because you never know what kind of mess the day could bring so if the place looks clean, then they should find other things to do. Never the less, keep running things the same Six Flags, the park looks great :!:

Or if you have a souvinir cup like we do, just bring in some packets of Cool-Aid, or Ice-Tea, and ask them to fill the cup up with water (it's free), dump the packets in there, stir it, and there you go. Free flavored drink. Sure the refills are only $1.06 w/ tax, but on a hot day with four people sharing a cup, that can add up in hurry.

If you see a cleaning crew standing there doing nothing, just drop a piece of paper in front of them, and give them something to do  .

That comment hits the nail on the head. Well said.

I prefer a clean park to a dity one. The Superman the Espace queue at SFMM was littered with cups, paper, and garbage in general. I really enjoyed that park, but that was not pleasant. However, unlike SFMM, our park actually operates coasters near full capacity (however, I believe ride uptime and capacity was much better last year at). For example, on most weekdays so far Bull has only ran two trains. Granted this is acceptable for medium crowds on weekdays, last year they ran it at full capacity nearly everyday I was at the park which greatly reduces wait times.

I think the original author of this post wanted to get more ride attendants nstead of more cleaning crews. However, I don't think the two are interchangeable...I'm sure all employees don't go through the same training when they are hired in. Like I said before, even though they may not have much to do now, they will soon. Trust me.

Exactly Iggy. The park can never be TO clean.

Speaking of the drinks in the park. HW did a great service by offering Gatorade on tap. Since Coca Cola distributes Power Ade which is pretty much the same thing as Gatorade and McDonalds offers it on tap at their restaurants, SF should look into adding this to their fountain drinks.

I would be more than happy to buy a souvenir cup and use it all year round on hot days for 99 cents if it provided Power Ade.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

When it comes to clean Six Flags Great America is doing a Great job! Its hard work trying to clean every nook and cranny in a park! But they do it and do it good!

For instance I personally watched in the morning prior to opening, the Deja Vu crew on many occasions power clean every surface that a guest of the park would ever touch. They wiped down every stainless steel rail in the queue and washed the surface of the garbage cans all while helping out with the beautification of the ride by picking some weeds in the newly added landscaping. I was even told by one of the employees up at Vu that they even waxed most of the rails in the station just to make them smooth and shiny!

But not only the Vu crew, the whole park looks fantastic and I hope they keep up the amazing work!
