I think I've figured out why Six Flags only uses one side for this ride. It's not that the whole one side is broke, but rather that just the second row of one side is broke. Why not just make this a non motion rider seats like the back rows with a sign, and have all the rows open on both sides.
I understand that it's not worth fixing, but why not make the most of the rows that work, and even the rows that don't work. The line is no longer four minutes for a ride, but I waited 30 minutes on Sunday with the ride time included. I've seen that lady in the first set of queues (by the control room) three times.
By the way, I was actually thinking of getting rid of that lady on the televsions, and putting Looney Tunes cartoons, or Batman cartoons in that area. Instead have her video, and then the other video (with the pilots of Space Shuttle America) right after one another in the other room (by doors 1-5). It would make the line more enjoyable. The other way you can do it is having that lady only on once (during a certain amount of time) and the other amount of time, you would have a Looney Tunes cartoon (They are not as long a other 22 minute cartoons.)
To clarify, if that lady comes on every 8 minutes, and the line is more like 16 minutes in that room, then instead of having the lady twice in 16 minutes, have her once with Looney Cartoons in between. Hopefully, they could get like 2 hours worth of so, so you don't always have the same ones. They have the power to do this considering that they own rights to it. There is also Tom & Jerry cartoons which are shorter, or the older Scooby-Doo. If you go for something like the Flinstones, it would be too long.

No offense, but everything you are saying is false.

I disagree. While it would make the time in line go by quicker, by adding cartoons into the waiting room, it would take away from the atmosphere of being in space. Its like "This is a serious news announcement...now back to your goofy cartoon." I don't know. They should have more in that waiting for though, maybe something educational about space or asteroids or something.

Please explain. I was looking at the other side while the movie was going on.

Or steal SMTV from Disney!
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.
The side in question is not broke. It functions just fine. The operator can switch off induvidual rows so they do not move during the ride cycle. All rows on the left side (facing screen) are shut down as staffing dictates. With minimal staffing only one side of the theater is used, usually the right, as this is closer to the operator panel. If more staff is available, the other side is put into operation. Its hard for one operator to watch an entire theater of people. In the early season, staffing at the park is not good.
Cartoons? I don't think they fit with the Mission Control atmosphere.
And I think he is referring to Space Mountain TeleVision. I thought it was funny, but they removed that about 3-4 years ago.
I think everything about that building is wrong. I'm sorry, but when i rode it this year, i couldn't have hated it more. The air condition was not on and it was muggy in there, big time! The second side is never used because it isn't needed, or at least everytime i have been there because it is unpopular. It just seems like it is a complete mess that needs to and will be addressed. The sooner the better!

What do you mean by muggy? I agree it could need some little touches but I still think its a pretty nice attraction. If they mopped the floors it would look alot nicer. And yes they only use one side because one operator cant control the whole shuttle bay by himself. I remember they used it once this year for a while where they used both sides when I visited last weekend because the line was full. Its just that Six Flags does not want to pay all the little damages the ride needs because if you look all around the park there are alot of "little" damages Six Flags needs to clean up not just SSA.
No matter how hard it is...Never EVER give up. The real failure is those who dont try.
I don't see why they need two operators to work both sides. Is it so one operator watches one side, and the other one watches the other side?? All the operator does is go up the rows, look at people, and come back down. They can't look at both sides while doing this.

I think humid would have been a better word than muggy. I just ment that it was really stuffy, like hotter than room temperature and dry and unpleasant to say the least. Especially since we were riding it to cool down. And the film is what i had the problem with most. There was sound for a good couple minutes before the movie even started playing. Our screen began showing images when we were already in space. The story didn't make sense because of it. I just remember it being a lot better years ago, I don't mean to complain.

No it wasn't a mistake in his ride. It's not even a mistake. On all the rides, the movie doesn't show up on the big screen until you are in space. It's always been like that, since it originally opened.
Instead they use the two side monitors for "take off", with the storyline of the movie being that they cannot raise the passengers compartment of the shuttle until they have already taken off. Then at the end, before landing they have trouble lowering the passengers.
The ride is good. My favorite films they have shown in there would defnitley be Dino Island and Superstistion. The one they have is decent. It's a nice little attraction.

I'm sorry, but space shuttle America sucks. Star Treck? Shya right. If a knew it was going to be that I would have did something else. Lets go on star trek the ride! I felt like a geek when I got off. Dumb Idea. If it was a good movie, and not a geek show like the one I saw, I would reconsider.

Um, well, no. I can tell you it wasn't on, I have friends that were with me that can prove that.

You think what you want. Im telling you its on, you may just not feel it because of the doors open, the dirty vents, or the amount of people, but its turned on.

You do realize that A/C systems do break and crap out. So even if they are on, it doesn't mean they work. And there is a very small crew that does HVAC repairs.
