Marvin in the 3rd Dimension

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on May 29th, 2006, 8:13 am
In my opinion, this show is a break through especially with the younger kids. It beats the educational stuff out of the water. However, I didn't really understand the ending part of the show. Can anyone explain what happened? I liked it, but it could have been better. I probably won't see it again though (maybe in August :? ) What do you think about this show. Now, I know why that growing alien (Marvin's birds) is walking around the park.

Can anyone explain what it is? Is just an Imax show, or are there 3D glasses, is it a normal theator or does it now have effects, moveable seats, anything new? I've been kind of curious. Also, does it still cost extra??

It is the Imax theather with 3d glasses, and that's it. So, it's in 3d. Some objects appear close to you. There are no motion seats, or special water coming from anywhere, or wind blowing at you, etc. It doesn't cost extra.

I thought the show as ok, but would have perferred that they would have used more charcters than they did.
They should have found a way to get the Roadrunner in there somehow!!!

Also Bugs Bunny.

Shut up.

Frankly all you ever do is complain. I love Marvin 3-D! and it's not just that but all you ever do is complain. It involves Marvin, K-9, the Instant Martians, Daffy, and breifly Bugs and Gossemer. Sure if you want the show to be 2 hours long lets bring in all the looney tunes and therefore make the plot even more loose then it is now.

So Frankly Bob O I really hate reading your posts. If you hate the park so much, as i imagine you do considering i've never seen you post anything that could possibly be intertpreted in the positive side, then stop posting here. And i'll end my post with the same way i started it. Shut up.

That might have been a *tad* harsh, but I do have to agree with you. I'm sick of reading Bob O's posts too. It does feel like every single post is something negative about SFGAm. But telling him to leave is just a little much, after all he is entitled to his opinions. It just seems weird for someone that hates the park that much to continually post on a fan site about the park. Bob O, we all know you hate the park and that they can do no right in your eyes, but do you think you can lighten up just a little bit?

Its not Imax anymore guys, as the Six Flags website states Pictorium utilizes the Iwerks system now.

That was pretty mean...I like reading what everyone has to say about stuff. It spices things up. Let them have their opinions, nobody is forcing you to read it.

If someone is sick of reading my posts, thats fine because everyone is entitled to there own opinion. And no one is forced to read my posts if they dont want to, but i wont stop posting my thoughts/comments unless im banned from this site.
As for the park, i dont hate the park at all or i wouldnt visit and spend my money there. But there are improvements that are needed to make it a better experience and unlike some im just not going to sing praises to the park like some fanboys apparently want to do.
As for the new 3d show i did think it was just OK and do believe it would have been better if they had more characters in it (escepically my childhood favorite Roadrunner). I guess some would perfer me to lie and say i thought it was the best 3d show i have ever seen.
As for "lighten up just a little bit?", that wont happen and you can choose to either read or not read my posts but i wouldnt attack someone for having a differing opinion or tell them to shut up.

As for some positive thoughts of SFGAM (which i have many of) i did think the park was very clean this past Sunday, that the smoking ban is working very well and was a excellant addition to the park and i thought the ride ops did a excellant job like they almost always do.

hey hey, stop fighting y'all, boards are better without it. anyways, i hope to see Marvin the Martian next time i go. I was going to see it last weekend, but when we got there, it was going to be another fifteen minutes to wait, and we'd taken a break during the day, so we wanted to ride some coasters. It sounds interesting though

When are the show times for it? Are they continuing showings all day or at specific times?

Sorry about that Bob O, I was sort of in a really pissed of mood about something else when I was reading your post and I guess I just lost it. I understand you are just pointing out the negatives in the hopes that the park will improve upon that. You don't have to lighten up if you don't want to :D . Maybe I should lighten up. Anyways, back on topic, I would really like to see this 3-D show. How long is it anyways? And are the 3-D effects pretty good?

Marvin the Matian in the third dimension is a 12 minute 3-D Experiance starring Marvin the Martian and Daffy Duck. Continuous showings begin each weekend day at 10:30 and each weekday (at least for now) at noon.

And yes, in my opinoin the 3-d effects are pretty good. Not world class but they had very little time to slap all of this together.

SFGAMFAN, No reason to lighten up, there is nothing wrong with differing viewpoints.
As for the the 3d show, i didint time it but my guess would be that it is at least 10 minutes long, and maybe a little longer. I thought the 3d effects were good.
Does anyone know if this show is being played at any other SF parks??
Parts of the show(i wont say where so as not to ruin it for any one who hasnt seen it yet)it seemed to me were made for a 4d type show like Shrek at USF or Philharmagic at wdw., that the effects werent used here but could have been at different parks set up for it.

Saw it today also and I enjoyed it. Laughed at quite a few parts of the film. The 3-D effects are pretty good and the sound system is great.

Bob O.
Shapiro stated that he wanted the Pictorium to be a 4-D theatre but not enough time was available to complete that. We shall see if they actually do it.

Noticed that all the seats in the Pictorium are new. Also noticed that food and drinks are no longer allowed or sold in the Pictorium.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

How hard would it be to retro-fit the theatre for make it 4d???
If they just put in new seats, my guess it would be a big deal to put in new interactive seats that move/splash water etc or fix the new ones to do that.
From seeing the film i could tell parts that would be very good in 4d and that addition would be a big improvement to the film.

I noticed that they were newer than the red padded seats. I just didn't know when they put them in, because I haven't been in there for awhile. I think the last show before this one was the Alien one (This is the one in which you are riding rides such as the carpet ride, and the hotwheels playset that was like a coaster.), and I saw that twice.

Are you sure the seats are new? They just replaced the seats not to long ago. I believe it was two years ago.

Also, food and drinks are not allowed in the Theater because now the show runs every 12 min. So to keep the theater Clean they don’t allow food or drinks. Just like any other Ride at SFGAM.

The seats aren't new, they've had those for a few years now. and to answer frd's question from up there...the only time the pictorium was ever not free was when micheal jordan to the max was playing which was super expensive and there was only one show per day, there was another film that ran that same year that was free. So Yes it's free.

Now that I think about it, you're right. The seats were there last year.

Well, this is kind of good news because maybe they will put 4-D seats in for next year.

Yeah, I do like the idea of continuous running of this film instead of showtimes. Especially on crowded hot days.

Are you sure it's 12 minutes. I would think that is was every 20 minutes instead in which new people come into the theater. It was like 6:43 or something, and the person said that it would start in about 20 minutes. It started at around 7:00. So, how can it be 12 minutes??? I think you mean that's how long the movie is.
