The Gurnee Board of Trustees recently voted to add a 1% tax on food and alcoholic beverages purchased at Gurnee restaurants. Granted, it won't be as expensive as park food by any means but I did want to pass this on.

In other news, the Wendies outside Great America is no longer in operation. Two weeks ago I was confused when I pulled into the drive through only to see all the windows borded up.

Damn, what's up with that. Wendy's was my after the park closes stop for something to eat for the drive home. If a place in that location couldn't make it there clearly had to be management issues.
It mysteriously just closed....Why, i dont know..it was a good location for them.

Culvers closes to early which is kinda shocking to me! 10pm doesnt cut it when in the middle of summer you sometimes dont get out of the park untill 11 or 11:30.
I guess I'll just have to eat at the oasis from now on

That's the one in Waukegan near the lake. I used to go there a lot too, but after fishing for salmon and trout.

I can go for a salad, McChicken, sundae, and parfait every often on select occasions, but keep me away from those nauseating fries! If I have to go near those one more time, I'm gonna do something crazy!

i'll be sticking with something along the lines of taco bell. I'm trying to cut out fast food like burger king and mcdonalds, that stuff doesn't taste as great as it did when i was younger.
Ditto! I myself used to love McDonalds, but now you can say I LOATHE McDonalds. Well, just their fries. I think I might have a few of their chicken nuggets again just for old time's sake. Beside, I think they're all-white meat.
From what I heard from my dad when he used to work there, their fries used to taste MUCH better than they do today. They used real potatoes and sliced them in a washing machine lookalike device. Then they blanched the sliced potatoes by placing them in a fryer for a few minutes. Then they hung them on a stand, waiting to be cooked in even hotter oil. Then when the results came out, the fries tasted as excellent and fresh as they could be. Then we got the frozen ones eventually. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

though it is more expensive, i do eat in park plenty. I just don't feel like leaving the park, and if i have to drive somewhere, it'll be a nightmare to find a new spot....god forbid if i ever had to park in the back lot.
Just buy the cheaper fries or drink at the park or use the coupons they give away to save money on certain food booths and restaurants at the park which they have for free to pass holders or for purchase somewhere in the park i dont know where.
The management at that Wendys was aweful. They closed the place because the owners owed Wendy's $250,000. The food was good but when I was there the people working there were so wierd. One night I was there and while I was walking out, one of the employees (a total redneck woman who was missing half her teeth) was saying horrible things to me about a mexican kid who worked there sayin "he just so g** D*** stupid". Another time I was there, the manager came in with a shovel of snow and threw it at his workers in the kitchen.
The food was good though and I enjoyed eating in that Wendys because there was never anybody there and the tables were always so clean.
