American Eagle Rehab Thread

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby [jonrev] on April 18th, 2006, 10:29 pm
Discuss the rehab going on with American Eagle... don't get this one locked.

The red and blue stand out so much now since they repainted it. I wish they would paint the white too.

is looking spiffy, though Im thinking if they only did the red and blue, white wont get anything as white would always go on first for 2 reasons, first there is alot more white meaning it would be sprayed on, and overspray would mess up the blue and red, and also it's alot easier to cover up white with blue and red rather than vise versa, so white would go on first.

Yea the Eagle does look nice with the red and blue.
I can't wait to ride it on opening day.
(If you want to see a pic of what the Eagle looked like on April 15, then go to my picture album. That is what it looked like during its paint job, and also if you look real close you can see the blue car going down the hill forwards instead of backwards.) :D 8)
Sry the pic is kinda bad, it was taken with a camera phone.

Did they paint any of the white pieces? I thought the white in the large turn around helix was repainted.

Wait a minute...Blue was going forward? Is AE only going one way this year? Please don't tell me yes. The ride needs the choice. The line is short enough with two different stations. I can only imagine what the line will be with two forward stations. Ugh...

Running Blue forwards was decided before last season ended. I was told by management during Halloween that Blue WILL be running forwards next year. He didnt say it in those words, but he did say, make sure you ride AEB because it wont be like that next year. So, Synder had no say in this decision, and it is about time that they bring the ride back to its original status.

Explain to me why they are running blue forwards, that is so stupid uh that's not fair the whole point of red and blue is racing each other forward and backward, that's so patheic, why are they they doing this?

Umm, they both ran forwards for years up until 2002. How is it unfair, that's the way it was always run for years. (Yes, I know they used to turn them around for a few months a season every once in awhile before 2002.)

The Red side has always been the better ride, so I always liked the backwards gimmick on the Blue Side. It gave me a reason to ride the Blue Side every once in awhile.

I agree with you Dave, blue backwards is really a good kick if you haven't ridden it in a while and don't know what to expect. Some people like it some people hate it. I wish it would say backards, as red does give a MUCH better ride.

I wasn't really a fan of going backwards because i always got really sick, however, I think having it go forwards and backwards was a better idea than having them go the same way.

AEB was horrible last year. I never got any air, and it was fairly rough. Hopefully turning the cars around will make it better.

There are no words to explain how depressing this is. Forward is, well, in my opinion boring. I don't care if it was forwards for all those years before 2002. We had red and Viper to go forward on a woodie. Backwards was my whole reason for going on at all. Now my 10 times on AE every trip will probably be like once, if that. Way to go GAm, you ruined a good thing.

From my experience, blue offers a bad ride period, it's the layout. The airtime on Red was much more plentiful and forceful.

Blue backwards was the Blue side's only saving grace, remove it and it's worthless to me.

Blue was always fine backwards to me. I could never choose which side I liked best because they are both fun. I think I preferred Blue backwards, but now I have reason to ride AE less.

This has nothing, zero to do with Shapiro and Snyder. To think so is downright absurd.

One thing i did like about Blue going backwards was the airtime of the first drop. It just seemed so much scarier going backwards down that first drop, then forwards. But from there is was slightly rough and headache city.

When going backwards in the last car "first car" it seamed like the front of the train was going to fall on top of you on the first drop. Did anyone else get the feeling? It was awesome, but I am glad that they are going back to the racing style.

Thats really stupid. The ride got so much more popular because of it running backwards.
