Stargate no more?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

^According to that it looks like Space Shuttle America will be back this season. I've got to say that Stargate wasn't my favorite in the begining, but if you rode it enough you began to enjoy it for it's comedy. Whats your take?

That's cool. I liked SSA when I rode it 2 years ago.

I don't think the site ever changed the ride over to Stargate. And the map does say Stargate SG 3000, so it looks like its here to stay for right now.

They havn't changed that from last year. Otherwise, the Tornado would be on there, and Skull Island will no longer be new. However, I thought the contract was going to end for this year. So, who knows? SSA, in my opinion is so much better even though I like the Dinosaur one the best. They do get boring after awhile though, and that is usually the attraction is not as packed as it used to be.

In my opinion, Stargate is the worst.

I remember in 1994 when the queue for SSA was full, plus the other queue block they removed when they put in the go karts, it was a retardedly long wait.

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember when they used to use the whole theater and not just half of it also.

The sad thing is that if you are a ride by the name of Jester's Wild Ride, you are in trouble.   The first year on a new attraction the line is usually the biggest as seen by SSA. It usually get worse as time goes bye.Can Jester's Wild Ride do the impossible, and gain more people than the first year of operation? I think not.

^JWR will probably NEVER gain popularity. I even see little kids come off and say it was boring.

Yeah, it is boring. I only ride it because i'm a ride entusiast, and I'll go on most things, no matter how Big (Kingda Ka) or Small (JWR) they are.

As far as I am concerned, the best thing that was ever shown in the simulator was "Dino Island 3D". At least the effects on that were great! I will never forget opening weekend in 1994, when Space Shuttle America was new. The park staff was handing out comment cards upon exit, and this alone told me that they had doubts about the attraction. My friends and I only took the ride on repeated occasions to mock it - the storyline was laughable and so implausible. If they bring back "Captain Hank" and crew, I will have to ride again to recapture the feelings of years ago. I hope my mocking skills are still intact! The space the simulator takes up could have been used for so much more...it was better years ago as the concert stage area. Now, along with the needed removal of the go-kart track, this space could be used for much-needed Hurricane Harbor expansion, and a separate front-gate entrance so that you don't have to trek halfway thru the park to get to Hurricane Harbor. I say remove the shuttle. It has NEVER fit in with the park theming. It was truly "Pittman's Folly", and I hope Mr. Shapiro sees what a waste this attraction really is!
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!

The ride hasn't been a whole flop. It has survived the better half of 11 years going on 12. That's pretty good for that type of ride. It's always crowded for Superstition. This is also considering that it's Fright Fest crowds.

I personally enjoyed the Space theme when they had it in the park. Now, it's Go-Karts area. The music by Space Shuttle America was cool. They also have the Sky Trek Tower which sort of deals with the sky and space (sort of). Adding the the Orbit and maybe a "Space Roller" (Ha Ha) would've really boomed this area.

Add the next Space Mountain at SF. The theming doesn't have to great, but an indoor rollercoaster would be really fun. They have a building now. The line for the ride would probably have to stay outside though considering I don't see how much room they could fit people in there along with a ride. Just make sure it's WDW's version and NOT DL version.

It's unfortunate that Jesters Wild Ride isnt popular as it is a fun ride, but honestly it has no place on the main midway. It suffers from location, if they had gotten a regular Rockin Tug (with that theme) and stuck it in one of their kiddie ghettos I think it'd be quite popular, but SFGAm's problem is they market it as a regular ride rather than a kiddie ride which is was designed for. Perhaps a DiskO/Skateboard would have done better, but that spot is definately not properly utilized at this point.

^Yes, I have only been satisfied with the motion simulator facility when it was Dino Island 2 3D. It was in 3D, it was exciting, wild, and I rode it at least twice every year it was there. I think stargate makes no sense and SSA is boring. So, I guess, if they were to bring back anything, make it Dino Island.

And DejaVuGurl1203, I like JWR as well since i know kids who like to ride it everytime and i think it is a nice medium for them while others in the family ride the rest of the Mardi Gras attractions.

I would like SSA to come back. I never got a chance to ride it, but Stargate (which I was forced to ride by my brother and cousin) made no sense to me at all.

I thought that Dino Island 3D movie was pretty cool. It was probably my favorite, because 3D really made it stand out more than SSA or Stargate. But there was my favorite which they played During FF 2001. Anyone know what that was called?

Just got back from SFKK, while there is alittle sinage from SG3000 (doesnt mention the nene exept on the copyrights on the sign), their sim is now the Funtastic World of Hanna Barbara, while it's *extremely* dated, it's alot more fun than SG3000 was, sort of hope we get it :)

That sounds great to me. Didn't Universal used to have that showing awhile ago. When I went to SFKK awhile ago, they had the same movie that we had. That's great news to me!!! :D

I rode SSA and Dino Island many times but only rode SG 3000 once. I remember waiting 75 minutes for SSA in 1994. For years I never waited in the outside queue. Then at Fright Fest 2005 it was deja vu(ha ha) back to 1994 when the wait for Superstition was ONE HOUR.
