yukon territory and yankee harbor

I was just thinking, what was the point of making YT and YH? I think the idea behind them is good but don't you think they are a little of the same thing? The other thing i thought about was why make two? I honestly think that YT is much better themed then YH, sooo, why not combine them? And if you think about it, they really don't have that much diversity to them, with rides or in scenery. What do you think?

The difference between them was more noticable in the past. Yankee Harbor used to have a lighthouse and used to remind me of like an old New England, oceanfront, oasis sort of place. Yukon Territory on the hand is more woodsy. It has overbearing trees and more of a rustic look. It sort of reminded me of a northern wisconsin feel, but that was just me. Either way, both were obviously very different in theming, but i understand how over the past few years, these two sections are starting to look the same. I would recommend bringing back more scenery rather than combining them.

They were much better themed and the rides did tie to the areas back in the Marriott days. YH had Tidal Wave, Yankee Clipper and such but since one is gone and the other has been named after water ( ) that area lost most of its theming. Especially after the lighthouse was demolished for V2.

Yukon i agree is still very well themed but other than Loggers that area is mainly for the kids. If you combined the 2 areas they could turn it into a giant kids area (probably wont happen though) So would you rather have a GIANT kids area or an area with thrill rides? Plus SFGAm just needs to add some theme to the rides (except Batman) and rename a few rides in YH and that area could be very well themed again.

And they are NOT the same thing. YT is a wilderness theme and YH is (or was) a harbor-town themed area.

Okay, better question. Which do you prefer NOW? I prefer YT but they could make it better by re-nameing fiddler's fling, it doesn't fit in.

Fiddlers is not part of YT. Neither is IW.

Yankee Harbor is a colonial fishing town set in the 1700's. Once complete with a display of all 13 flags of the original colonies, a seafood restaraunt, patriotic music and a full size sailboat, much of the original theming has been lost due to the addition of Batman and related theming.

Yukon Territory is a themed area based on the Klondike Gold Rush in Canada in 1897. The tall pines, rustic mining town buildings and totem poles complete the theme. There was once a totem carver in Yukon Territory and you could get your own pole custom made for you.

Yankee Harbor attractions that were true to the theme were Tidal Wave, Davy Jones Dingys, Lobster and Yankee Clipper. Yukon Territory still has Loggers Run, and the other main attraction was the Wilderness Theater. In the early years of the park the dolphin show of Nemo and Neptune graced the pool, and later on it was home to a high dive act.

And the lighthouse from Yankee Harbor? It wasn't really torn down. A contractor working on the V2 project heard of the impending demise of the building. Rather than tear the building down, he cut it in half, removed it by a crane, and reinstalled it at his lakefront property somewhere in Lake County. I do not know where the exact location is.

Ride wise, I of course like Yankee Harbor better. I like Ice Mountain Splash better than Loggers Run, Vertical Velocity is my favorite coaster in the park, and Whirligig is one of my favorite flats.

Theme wise, I would have to go with Yukon Territory because, in my mind, it is the most well kept in the theme category. It is the only one in the park that hasn't seemed to have lost much of it's theme over the years and the aging only helps the trees grow larger; which in turn enhances the scenery.

It seems like the one common thing of Yukon Territory and Yankee Harbor is that their soundtracks still play side by side after all these years! If you were to sit in Yukon listening to one particular song and then slide by Yankee and listen to it's current song, you will pinpoint their positions in your mind. Then when you come back to Yukon and the same song comes back on an hour later, you'll find the same song in Yankee as well. Yankee Harbor does still play it's original soundtrack, only you have to sit at the New England Cafe in order to hear it.

It's sad to know the utter demise of the theming in Yankee Harbor; they could've moved the lighthouse in the middle of the pond nearby, or put V2 where Splashwater Falls is. Changing the charming name Yankee Clipper to the overtly propagandic Ice Mountain Splash only worsened the situation. I didn't have a problem with Batman since I can't remember the times I went to the park when Tidal Wave was functioning. I would say BRING BACK THE FLAGS, THE LIGHTHOUSE, AND THE NAME 'YANKEE CLIPPER.'

You are depriving some members of a good time adoring that thing considering you don't know where it's located. If only the lighthouse were back, we can bring all our fantasies to life.

As said before, they are themed to wilderness, and fishing village with a lake. I enjoy Yankee Harbor more than Yukon Territory because I don't really care for park theming that much. I look at rides, and there are better rides in Yankee Harbor than Yukon Territory. One big ride that I don't even care can not beat two really good coasters in my opinion, and a really good flat. The other flat is okay (East River Crawler), and IMS could be destroyed for all I care.

Yukon Territory is one of my favorite areas of the park, and I agree with Trailblazer Tony's comment on it being one of the most preserved themes in the park. I just like that rustic feel that it has.

As far as Yankee Harbor goes, it would be nice if the name Yankee Clipper could return, as well as a few of the theme aspects.

On the bright side though, at least the lighthouse was saved instead of demolished.
