I was wondering about that, and while I don't want them to get rid of any rides, I feel that something is gonna have to go, sooner or later.
Or they could get creative, and build something over an exisiting ride, I was looking over the map and saw that there's potential around Roaring Rapids, or should I say over it?
This is an Idea for a layout I have in mind, to be built over Roaring Rapids, I thought of everything, the layout, positions for the support pillers, the station, the enterance and exit path can be next to each other, kinda like SUF, and even switch-backs...
What do you think? It's ironic that the ride has blue track and whiteish/silverish supports, as one of our coasters did before....
But note how carefully everything is placed....SFGAm could build something over Roaring Rapids, hmmmm?

Why not have the path go the other way, and have the entrance around the recording studio? Either a bridge or a tunnel under the train.
that is possible, however, how many really use Picnic Grove??? A bridge or tunnel the other way would work too...go around the Looney Tunes theatre....
That idea looks cool. But the path is just horrible. Also, I really doubt SFGAm would do something like that. Creativeness and Six Flags usually don't match.
Take IMS out, and it will solve all your problems. Seriously, the park is not thinking about a rollercoaster for a long time as it now seems. I think our park does have "enough" rollercoasters that aren't that rough compared to other parks, and thus can fulfill the "thrilling" persons excitement. I would rather see some of the money for rides go to parks that have rollercoasters that will "beat you up" in which they should be replaced, or parks that basically don't have enough such as Fiesta Texas.
It's now the "family environment" and thus SF is choosing to spend the money somewhere else. So, SFFT will still have five normal coasters with one kiddie. To me, that is not enough, and I consider a Boomerang coaster as being one of those rough coasters that everyone might not enjoy as it was at GL. If it's anything like GL's version, I understand why they changed the name to Head Spin. I really enjoyed it, but I don't see a whole lot people running to that ride as there favorite.
When you have five "adult" coasters that doesn't mean that everyone is going to enjoy every rollercoaster. I don't think teens are really care for the Mine Train as I seen at SFOG and SFStL. So, it's really like four teen coasters at SFFT and who says that every teen is going to enjoy the other four. That's hardly anything for someone to enjoy. Could this be another closure in the near future??? I've never been to the park, but it doesn't seem like they have enough rollercoasters to offer to the public.

everybody here, or at least everybody here has said, take out IMS, I say don't take it out, because it's a fan favorite, when one log ride is down the other is usually open, the lines for SMF are long during the dog days of summer, and RR gets you wet, but not soaked, keeping IMS is a good idea for the really hot summer days...
I have mentioned building a coaster in this spot in quite a few past topics and I agree with you, it would be a great place for a new coaster...when they begin looking for one. I really like the design, what program did you use to do that?
Also, IMHO, Ice Mountain Splash is a great ride because it DOESN'T soak you. So for those like me who don't like walking around soaking wet all day, it is a great choice for hot days.

agreed, I just uesd Google Earth, and took a screen capture of that section of the park and used MSpaint for the design, it's sort of like the Medusa/Scream! layouts, but different.....
I like the idea too. It certainly is creative. A better option, or I guess I should say, an option that I would rather see personally, is rip out SSA and the Go-Karts and put something there, perferrably a B&M floorless.
I was googling for pictures and came across this site. A lot of really cool pics and aerial shots:
theres no chance of this happening because great america is focusing on familes i like the idea though, but i wouldn't expect a new coaster a sfgam for quite a while

Why does everyone want to get rid of the Go-Karts and Stargate? I really like Stargate, although I've never ridden the go karts. Besides, SFGAm probably isn't going to remove family rides for a rollercoaster.
^Me too. It is clear that the park will have to expand Hurricane Harbor, and with limited parking, the Stargate/Winners Circle spot would be the best place for it.

How high do you propose this to be built? Any more than 125 feet and residents will put up quite the fight when Six Flags applies for the zoning variance. Your que appears to interfere with the current infrastructure for the Rapids ride: eliminating backdoor access for maintenance and the like. Acces to the midride position for the Rapids also would need to be very closely examined, in addition to the heights for the coaster elements above the ride. And do you realize that you placed the station right on top of a reservoir for the Rapids ride?
That idea is an okay idea because it will be hard to be able to construct a ride over the rapids. It will ruin the rapids experience becuase there will be supports just in the middle of the ride. Then the picnic grove is a big thing at SFGAm cause there are always private parties there.
I, too, would like to see Hurricane Harbor expand into Stargate area and put 5-10 more slides in, it would bring the capacity of HH higher, bring in more people to the park because waterparks are the big thing now at theme parks. They could also add a second wave pool, cause the one that is there right now is not as big as it seems, it isnt deep and it gets really crowded.
