Better Security

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby LaTiNoObSeSeDSFGAm on January 21st, 2006, 3:17 am
Now that Six Flags Great America is basically turning into a family orientated park...there should be more security and safety along ride lines. Well because if this park is suppose to attract families, I highly doubt that a mom or dad will not like to have a someone cut in front of them and then start arguing in front of their kids. Why? I saw this twice once last year and once this year...This year was in Fright Fest when a girl just started to cut everybody then this guy in his thirties started to wouldnt let her pass and they got into this huge argument. I think SFGAm should have better security even though I know the issue about not enough employees. But think about it, if a family gets into a fight with people cutting and no security to watch and handle the situation, most likely the family wouldnt return.

O yea...when I worked there in the summer of 2005, there was a huge fight ( literally ) in the line of Viper, they had to get security and everything for that. That is not a family enviorment.

in my opinion...they should have secuirty in the lines sitting on lifegaurd chairs ( somewhat they had in the Marriott days ) I read it somewhere that they used to do that but I cant find it. If they do this, then people will stop cutting and less fights happening. Now the security in the park is real good but I just think that they should have better safety inside the lines in the major attractions all the time like Raging Bull Batman water rides etc.
No matter how hard it is...Never EVER give up. The real failure is those who dont try.

yeah, I HATE HATE line cutters. These people in the line for viper were in front of us and threw their crap over the fence jumped down and got it and walked to the head of the line.

I can see your point that since Six Flags is looking to be more of a family enviroment, that people would want security in such in lines. etc.

Sadly, thats probably not going to happen.

The costs which is basically a factor in everything would be way too high and thus not able to happen.

^I have a feeling security will be getting much better. They have been the past few years and I dont expect that to end.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Yea, I agree. Security is very low. I never even see them anywhere.

^ There was always one stationed at Bull on busy days, and almost every day security would walk along the whole line every few hours.

I only go once a year so thats why I dont see them.

There should be one stationed at all of the coasters and they should always be walking along the lines.

I sure hope security gets better this year. With all the extra revenue they're getting from raising ticket prices, they could afford a larger staff.

Not to say ticket prices will definatley increase. Although it is very likely.

I read an article posted on a another board that SF Corporate was thinking about outsourcing all the security rather than doing it in house. They seemed to think they could get more coverage for less money that way.

I know this would never happen, but I think they should people who wait in line and are like regular people and they get to catch them and ride the ride when the get to the station (so there cover isn't blown, of course ). Think of how fun of a job that would be, riding rides and catching line jumpers, it's like the theme park goers dream job! 8)

Thats Loss Prevention, to an extent.. They do go dressed as guests and ride and do things, but theyre going after empoyees instead...for example, if they get a report about an employee possibly stealing at rides, they'll go as a guest say they found a wallet on the ride and give it to the ride op. 10 minutes later theyll come back for that same wallet. They know how much cash was put inside it and if anything is missing, that employee is gone. As an employee you always have to watch your back because you never know who will be watching you...

Its scary sometimes cus they put you in situations to see how you handle them. They then sometimes report back to managers.

I've never felt that my "safety" was compromised while waiting in any line, ever. If that's the case, do the smart thing, just leave and tell someone that can do something about it.

As I've always said, "feeling unsafe is just being uncool" ;)

But the problem is people shouldnt line cut in the first place and like seriously if they want SFGAm to be like Disneyland do they allow line cutting in disneyland or Cedar Point.

O ya I havnt heard anything on development on scenery what do you think will do with that?

I hate line cutters. I've never seen them but I would be so mad if somebody cut infront of me.

LaTiNoObSeSeDSFGAm, there is a HUGE difference between line cutters and personal safety. Seriously, don't do anything stupid like try to handle line cutters yourself. All that does is escalate and start fights. Go find someone that works there, tell them, and the line cutter will be dealt with by security. Same goes for smokers, etc.

Some old lady got killed at Wicked Twister a few years ago when she tried to stop line jumpers. Let security handle it.

ok before you guys get your little attitude with me I think you need to re read my post what I said about secruity...I said that Security should be in the lines ( like get life gaurd chairs like they did in the Marriott days...I read somewhere ) so they can deal with line cutters and nothing would happen. I never said that the guests should deal with them...what your saying is just what im talking about haha!!!

And about the wicked twister...how did the lady die where and when was this?!

You said "there should be more...SAFETY along ride lines." There is no queue at Great America that is unsafe unless you let it be (i.e. taking part in fights).
