A note about signature images

-------------------------------------------Ok, now another member has one in his signature. It's only a matter of time before they use full size banners, and everyone does. That will kill load time. I know it won't effect your bandwith, well it will. It will reduce it. *removed for saving face* Figure out how to get rid of images from signatures. If you have to, I'd just disable them all together. If someone wants to show an image, they should just link to them.-------------------------------------------That is a private message I sent Dave today. I would like to highly discourage use of images in signatures. I touched on a couple of reasons in that PM. Another is the reason we do not allow anyone to post thier own avatars. We have no way of knowing if you are violating any copyrights. Also, unless you are linking to an image from your own web host, you are stealing someone else's bandwith. Stealing, you all know, is wrong.So, if you would all be so kind as to not have images in your signatures, it would make everything much easier, and speed up load times for the people who are still on dial up. If you want to post images, I suggest you use Webshots. Thank you.

Can't you just disable HTTP and the [img] tags in sigs?

yeah, but then it disables people who use the tags for URL's.

Well I think that it is a good idea. Im still on a 56k, and I dont like waiting 30 seconds for a page to load. Espically animated banners. It just kinda makes the boards messy. Thanks.

in my opinion I HATE images in sigs. It looks so tacky. I think you should suck it up and disable tags and HTML...I'm a very picky person when it comes to forums.

Yeah, but we need to be able to post links and stuff... But, I also dislike banners in sigs... It does definately look messy.
