SFHH Tornado water slide announcment thread

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby CoasterDude12-2 on December 23rd, 2005, 6:42 pm
Hopefully you know that a Tornado water slide is planned for HH in '06. While I would've liked a new rollercoaster, I'm happy to see us getting something for '06. Post your comments here.

I guess it's cool. I'm just really dissapointed that were not getting a coaster. If I really wanted to go to a water park I would just go to Wisconsin Dells (the waterpark capitol of the US).

Anyways I hope that the slide before the funnel is like really long.

I dont know, people keep saying its gonna happen, im waiting to see it actually happen. When was construction said to begin, and I must be crazy cause I didnt hear of a press conference about this yet. Im not saying its not gonna happen, im just saying its not certain if it will be done this season, there are no solid answers yet.
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.

Tornado isn't going to be anything special. I wish we were getting a roller coaster.

It's pretty certain that it'll be done this weekend. I believe people on the construction tour heard Ron Servart say that there will be a Tornado Slide put it this year. For further proof that it will happen this year, look at the webcam thing they have looking at the area, they have taken the sand out of the splash pool and uncovered the footers for the slide. Seems like solid proof to me. Here's the link to the webcam: http://www.nbc5.com/sponsor/4709512/detail.html

Thats been like that for weeks, we have been watching it as well. They have a bridge made up to go over the lazy river but construction will probably not begin until the new year.

This is not a rumor or anything. Its nice that we might get TORNADO for HH. Then again it could be a coaster maybe the TEXAS TORNADO from Six flags Astroworld since some SF parks are getting rides from Astroworld, it doesnt take up that much space and they could probably squeeze it in somewhere in Great America. Cant wait for their announcement on what their getting new for 06.

TEXAS TORNADO went to Marine World a few years ago and is now Zonga. And if you're thinking of Texas Cyclone, we already have Viper, which is basically the same thing.

I don't post much, lurk a lot, but...

Wasn't this more or less confirmed over a year ago when the waterpark was built? The footers were put in when the park was built, weren't they? So construction should be very quick on the ride I would assume.

Welcome Mallclerks.

No official announcement yet, footers were put there very early, and construction will be quick.

It would be nice if the official announcement included additional attractions also. Expensive season passes may drop the attendance, only time will tell. However, seeing this monstrosity of a water slide by the Highway traffic is going to cause lots of curious people to try HH who didn't this first year.

You have a point. Yet, when you reach the peak of Raging Bull and see those crowded waters, it does make the waterpark appear a bit nasty....its like flooded with people to where you cant even see water :? elh...

im all for Lowering the CAPACITY of the water park, 7,100 is a bit to high for a park so small expecially when some attractions may be closed!!!! park capacity should be based on how many attractions are open!!!!

I also have a question?

Say your in the waterpark and you leave.....to say EAT in your car and when you get back!!!! the waterpark is closed due to capacity!!!

Even if all your clothes and EVERYTHING are in a locker? are you SOL?

Uh, dude, Park Capacity is not affected by how many rides are open. No rides open still 7,100. All rides open still 7,100. Those numbers are set up by IL, so take it up with them.[/list]
