The Edge

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Does anyone have photos of the Edge when it was around? Edge was the freefall ride in King Chaos' spot where a bunch of kids got hurt.

In this picture You can clearly see Edge's cousin, Freefall in the foreground. (They were identical except for colouring)

I've seen a picture of the Edge and I'm possitive that it was orange and yellow. It had the same designe as the picture above so I guess you can get a pretty good idea of what it looked like.

There were many of the Intamin drop towers made. There are no hills at Cedar Point so that can't be it.

I never went on it because I was either too young or too scared but I do remember my brother going on it and me waiting for him.

Ooo, thats one attractive looking ride. I like the color scheme, orange and yellow. I would loved to have ridden it, since I like freefalling so much.

That'd be awsome if six flags still had the edge. Because I went on demon drop for my first time recently and thought it was awsome.

It's an Intamin first gen. drop tower that had no rollbacks and when the cable snapped it killed 4 people who were in the car underneath the car being raised to the top, and the people in the car that fell were seriously injured. I beleave this was at Mariott's Great America in CA, as Mariott still owned the park at the time, and correct me if Im wrong but it also happened on opening day.

The Edge is now Mr Hydes Nasty Fall at Geauga Lake. even though it was repainted, alot of paint chipped off and you can still see the paint underneath from when it was The Edge.

WRONG, WRONG, and WRONG.

First of all, the incident in question did occur at the Gurnee park, not Santa Clara.

Second of all, no one died. Four riders were injured.

There were (luckily) no riders in the car at the bottom.

In line for Richochet yesterday, I was told by a teenage girl how she liked Giant Drop when it was called the Edge. She then added how it was a shame that it killed four boys.

There was so much wrong that I just had to set her straight

I remember sitting in Sky Whirl back when Giant Drop was new. My dad and uncle wanted to do it but I wasn't tall enough yet. The lady that was in the car with my mom and I talked about how Giant Drop is unsafe and that years ago the car came crashing down. Until I learned about the Edge I thought she was lying.

When will you ever learn? Don't take anything David says as fact unless someone else confirms it.
