Am I the only one who thinks this? Six Flags needs to repave their walkways. I especially see the need in Hometown Square.
I think before repaving an entire parking lot they should repave the park's walkways. I see lots of cracks and other blemishes that takes away from the overall look of the park.
Does anyone else agree?

Yes I agree. You're right especially in Hometown Square!!

The entire park (except Hometown and Southwest) was repaved before the 2004 season. Southwest doesn't need to be repaved.
The south end of Hometown Square (by the new games) was repaved the week before Hurricane Harbor opened. Sevart said at the HH tour that they wanted to repave all of Hometown Square, but they didn't have time to work around the parade tracks. Look for that to be done this off-season.
I especially notice it when leaving the plaza and entering Hometown Square (by the store and Pictorium). I guess I didn't notice the repavement everywhere else. But I did notice it in Mardi Gras. I'll be sure to pay special attention to the pavement on my next trip. lol Hometown Square is just stuck in my head in regards to bad pavement.
Yes, I totaly agree with you. I love to see parks take care of theirs parks, with repavemed areas where and when it needs it, and to repaint their rides, and so on. I know that Six Flags can do it! They are on the right way now, so. I really have a big thought on Six Flags now. I think they know the way to go now.

I was walking in hometown square the other day and I tripped over a crack or whatever. The pavement is so uneven. I am sure they will get to it as soon as possible. Maybe even when the park goes into weekend only operations or before fright fest

They just re-sealed the existing pathes. they never repaved any thing. I also think that they should re-pave everything in concreat. becuse the black top is a nightmear duruing the summer months.
concrete would cause problems if they have to move things around. Its much easier to tear up and replace blacktop than to tear up entire sections of concrete. Not to mention the costs involved.

Asphalt, or black top as some of you say, is actually better for your feet to walk on. I would hate to have the whole park be concrete, it's an eyesore.

My concreat reasoning is, because black top gets way to hot in the summer. Concreat is cool, and it looks a whole heap better in MY EXPERIENCES. Concreat is also more durrible than black top. Black top is made out of tiny stones and tar wich is then compacted to make the surface. Concreat has been proven stronger than black top.
Have you ever been to Cedar Point, specifically the Midway? There is no shade and the concrete just seems to glare in your face (hence my nickname of the part, Concrete Jungle). I understand your what you're saying, I just personally prefer asphalt. Justin

I've been to Cedar Point before and I had no problems with glare. I've also been to SFMM and had no problem with their concrete. I agree with the concrete idea. It'll feel cooler and it will look nicer. Now I love to drive on asphault, but walking on it from 10am-10pm is aweful. If they redid all of Great America with the same stuff from SWT the park would look more clean, better, and the heat would be less intense. But, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it! I think that concrete would be a nice change. Yes the park would look different but, it would keep the park a lot cooler than the blacktop does now. So i think concrete would be a good thing to get in my opinion just to make it a little cooler.

It's not the concrete that would give you sunburn. It's the fact that you probably didn't wear sunscreen. Concrete wouldn't cause you to get sunburn. When I was at Cedar Point, I went around with all the concrete and I didn't get sunburn and I didn't feel the heat very much and it was a very enjoyable time. When I was in California and I went to SFMM, both days I went it was a very hot day, but when I went into SFMM, it didn't bother me. Why? Because I didn't have to walk around on ashault. For me the main 2 reasons to get rid of ashault is the Heat and cleanliness. But that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it! Back in the day (before some of you were born
 ) didn't they used to re-pave every year? That is one this that always reminded me of Six Flags.. the smell of asphalt.

Concrete will NEVER happen. It is a) very expensive. b) a pain to keep clean and c) hard on your feet.
Concrete costs significantly more per square foot than asphalt. Also, gum and dirt show up much more as the concrete is a light color whereas asphalt is black. Believe it or not, asphalt actually has very little bit of give, thus making it easier to walk on than concrete.

Not only do I agree with all those expensive and hard on your feet reasons, but when it rains, asphalt is soooo fun to slide on! Can't do that with concrete can ya? What you don't understand you can make mean anything.

What is southwest terrotory paved in? CONCREAT. dont say it will never happen when it already has.
They are NOT going to tear up the asphault and put new concrete in. That would be a poor business decision. The asphault is just fine.
I think we all know here, that Six Flags is the king of making poor business decisions.
