Is Coaster After Dark Worth Going

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby djvsuf on July 15th, 2005, 2:12 am
The reason I am saying this is that I went To my first coaster after dark 7/14/05 and the lines never got better but a little worse if all the rides were open. To top it off they cut the line at 11:30 P.M. I guess to make sure they are closed at 12. Not worth it to me. The lines weren't better when the coaster after dark started or before it started. I think when HH closes at 7 P.m. all hell breaks loose in southwest territory and other rides, pain in the butt.

By the way i got on AEblue, Demon, and Whizzer. Deja Vu & Raging Bull forget about it. Switchbacks full. Deja Vu had Problems with the catch.

M y son went to coaster after dark and said it was very buisy and he only got on 3 rides, Whizzer,Raging Bull and Viper before he left around 1130 because all the lines he saw were too long.
They need some different type of set-up to make it more worthwhile.
I went to the park for 1/2 day today and around 130pm, both Viper and Raging Bull had 10-15 minute waits and Giant Drop was a walk-on, which made for a much better daytime than the night my son had.

I went to CAD that day and I can say I will probably never go again. It's a crying shame SFMM sometimes stays open til one am while our CAD's close at midnite.

I hate that they have to card you everytime you wanna go on a coaster during CAD (Although I see why they do, it's just a pain to get your pass out, put it back, then pull it out again.....)
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

Ragin cajun was full to the max, Batman had one switch back full with a single line out pass the entrance. Iron Wolf wasn't bad American Eagle wasn't bad. Revolution was full all the way. Mabye cut the lines for the coasters at 9:00 pm ok just like they cut the lines at 1130 and when 10:00 p.m. come reopen the line so those last minute people who don't have season passes won't be in line making it worse.

Viper I don't know how the line was, too dark to see. Deamon single line all the way to the entrance (25 Min Wait). I never went to Superman because I know that line does not move fast and it had to be full.
Whizzer not bad at all probally the shortest line.

Orbit was open a 5 min wait.

P.S Why can't sfgam have hours till 12am. Mabye it's a city curfew law for teenagers or kids to be home by 10.

I defiantely won't go in August to the next CAD.

Did anybody go to last month CAD and if you did was just as bad or this is how it is every CAD.

This CAD was the worst of the ones that I have been to. I got on Bull, AE Red, Ragin’ Cajun and Whizzer. After I got off RC (at about 11:40) every line was closed except Whizzer.

Part of the deal that was struck with the Village of Gurnee in 1975 was that the amusment rides had to be finished operating by Midnight. That is a local ordinance. No way around it.

That's a shame. It would be so awesome if SFGAm was open til 12 on these summer nights, even 11 would be great.

It's a lot of fun, but nowhere did it ever say that it was going to be like an ERT or anything where you can marathon on rides. The CAD days are probably the highest attendance days for season pass holders. I hope now people will stop going just for CAD and then come here and complain about how much CAD sucks.

I agree 100%. The lines don't even bother me that much, it's still worth being in the park an extra 2 hours riding the rides at night. Just because I can't marathon on anything doesn't make CAD suck.
