SFGA is scamming on season pass

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby CosterRider on May 25th, 2005, 4:45 pm
We are the only six flag park with very high season pass pricing.

Most other parks that the season pass can be used at are only $57 or $49 for the pass.

However, thats not the only over charge the season parking at other parks is on $20.

So beat them at the game and get your pass at another park then use it all summer at SFGA...

This is clearly a scam they are pulling off on the Il people!!

The reason our pass prices are higher is because our park is bigger and better than most of the six flags parks except for maybe SFGADV.

And for unlimited visits during 150+ operating days, $75 isn't a scam at all.

If your complaining you can just get in line for a ticket and pay $42 every time you want to go to the park, oh and just pay the $12 for parking everytime too......

Parking is only $10. The price of the season pass is high because the quality of SFGAm is so high. Admission is $44.99, and using you season pass twice pays for it.

Passes in the park are $99.99 when they can be gotten for cheeper at Jewel. But then again, they charge 3.25 for a drink inside the park, when you can get one across the street for less than a buck. A ripoff, yes, but it's buisness. As long as people continue buying (which the do) then they can continue to sell it at that price.

They sell them higher here because they can get away with it. They have no other competition whatsoever. At SFMM they need to have a lower priced season pass because there are so many other parks in the area.

They know that people aren't going to drive/fly hundreds of miles to buy a season pass for $30 cheaper.

Correct. SFGAm has no competition so its a way to get all your money. At SFA my park they only charged us $54.99 for season pass (now $59.99 if you missed the first sale). And if you wanted to buy a parking pass, it was $30.00. In total u basically just spend about $85 dollar on all that.

The only parks that are not cheap are SFGAdv, SFGAm, and SFMM (until they introduced playpass and now they are selling cheaper). Another thing I noticed, not ALL SF parks are selling family passes like my park. So if you decide to buy 4 passes individually, its gonna cost you a pretty penny. Multiply that times 4.

How can you not sale family passes anymore at the other parks? My mom says you can always get families in on that, but they are not doing it. Well all season passes are kind of a scam anyway you look at it. SFGAm you not alone on this one.

If your talking about a Family package of Season Passes...It's still a lowered cost for each pass.....

The season pass prices arn't all that much for what you get if you think about. I mean, look at what you get for the one time price of $70 or $80! Plus it pays for itself after 2 visits.
Aero also makes a good point, it is a business after all and they are entitled the right to do whatever they want with their prices, ecpesially if there isn't a lot of competition around.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

Yeah thats what im talking about. It's a lowered cost for yall, but for the other parks they are not doing the family package this year. SFA is not doing that this year so for two individual season passes together, its double the price. I remember my mom paying for me and my sister over $100. And I bought a parking pass that cost $30.

Out of curiosity, is Six Flags limiting season passes this year or will the price be higher than right now because I keep getting emails about the offer ending May 30th and I was just wondering.

Regular Price at the park is $99.99 for a season pass and $89.99 each for family season pass. If you buy it on-line or at jewel or you call sixflags, you can get $10 off that price till May 30th. After May 30th, I believe it will just be $5 off.

can I do this:

Take my $15 off coupon, bring it to the park for $30 admission, and then do the upgrade special for $40 or $45 to a season pass and pay only $70 or $75 for it? Or will they not let my do the upgrade while using the coupon at the same time?

I'm not sure if you can do that. Something I did notice thought is that in upgrading your admission ticket to a Season Pass is really expensive. You really only save a couple dollars. They make it seem like such a big saving...but in reality it is almost the same price. You figure you pay $44.99 for admission then upgrade it for 45 dollars. That is...89.99 and then you add tax to that which comes up to over 90 dollars.

If you buy a ticket for full price at the gate the upgrade price to a season pass is $39.99. If you convert any other special ($15 off coupon, Bring a friend free coupon, or whatever) the upgrade price for a season pass is $49.99.

Oh good.. I was going to ask that. So me, my sister in law, and 2 nephews are going to GA and HH on Tuesday and me and 1 of my nephews has season passes already so we are getting the other 2 in for free with the coupons. So if they wanted to get season passes it would just be $50 each even though they got in for free?? This always confused me.

Yep, your S-i-L and nephew can get in for free and upgrade to a Season Pass for $49.99 and change. I did that for a friend yesterday, and worked just fine. Just take their ticket stub to the Season Pass center register, right near the entrance on your right.
