I was just at six flags on Saturday may 10 and there were like small cranes and construction equipment inside the radious of wizzer. my friends and i are curious if they are going to start taking it down or if it is being repaired. i thought that they were repairing it but someone said something about taking wizzer down. i don't know so if you have any knowledge about it let me know. thanksoh and i have pictures of all the equipment, jus haven't put them on here yet.MOD NOTE: TITLE MISPRINT FIXED.
I noticed the same thing inside of the helix towards the end of the ride. They had construction Vehicles all over and a bunch of trees are gone. doubt they would remove it though, not after the public outcry last year.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name
WHIZZER, not Wizzer, don't spell my first coaster's name wrong again, isn't going to be removed after 2 weekends of operation. I saw some cars on the ground when I was there last, maybe they are assembling the 3rd train.
I saw the third train that was taken apart too. Whizzer is going no where. The public outcry from last year didnt save the Whizzer. It was never coming out in the first place. It was all a publicity stunt. There is no way they could have fit S:UF in that small of a spot. They knew all along that Shockwave was coming out. Do you remember the park said that they were taking out Whizzer and they would try to take down the smallest amount of trees as possible. Well that couldnt have happened. They would have had to take down almost all the trees if S:UF was able to fit in that spot and thats where it was going to be placed.
Whizzers third train was assembled yesterday and sitting on the transfer track. The maintence stuff you saw was probably to get the train onto the transfer track.
I dont think that it will run the third train much this year. If it does it will most likely be on one of those hot summer days where its really crowded.
well wizzer is a good coaster for kids but i dont think it was my first coaster some how i got on batman when i was 6 or 7 because i had a tall hat on. than i whent on whizzer after batman.
Thank you for re-itterating that, joker. If someone spells it wrong again, I'll lock this topic! HAHA j/k, I'll just yell at you again. Probably not, but if you're really a fan of Great America, you should at least know how to spell it's most historic coaster's name right...
i shed no tears when they said they were getting rid of shockwave...i was quite happy actually...it wasnt an awful ride but i certainly didnt think it was good either. whizzer is much much better. i know its heresey...but i hope iron wolf is next on the chopping block. coasters like shockwave and iron wolf dont stand the test of time like, for instance, american eagle. a new woodie at sfgam may be better than eagle, but not by much. plus it would employ the same basic designs, limitations, and technologies as eagle. whereas steel coasters have advanced so much that wave and wolf are most certainly bound to be lost in the mix. they may have been big, amazing record breakers in thier time, but comparatively speaking, they are now all but obsolete. a floorless would be a nice addition to sfgam. it would help keep a diverse lineup of coasters, and would be another attraction that not many other parks (esp in the midwest) can boast.out with the old, in with the new.
Yea, I agree. I love wooden and steel coasters. They have a different feel so I think it's important to keep both. They should keep the Whizzer for the simple fact that it was one of the park's first rides. Steel coasters are coming out with a lot more different layouts and designs than wooden ones so they're easier to replace. I really do hope Iron Wolf is next too. That ride is getting unbearably bumpy. I like the ride but I think they could replace it with a better one. If I'm not mistaken, Iron Wolf is the oldest steel coaster there besides the Whizzer. I may be wrong but if it is, I think it should be the next one to go. Yea, a floorless one would be nice but I wouldn't expect it for a while. Maybe 2005; I thought there was a forum about how we get new coasters just about every other year or so. If that's right, I hope we get a floorless one. You can't really expect much after S:UF though! That really is a great ride and for now, I'm perfectly content. If they DO remove Iron Wolf next, I'd miss it but not nearly as much as the others such as Batman, Demon, v2, etc.... (I haven't been on Deja Vu so I can't really put that..haha) I don't care what anyone says, I still like the Demon. I think part of it is it's theming. It's such a great ride at nite!
Need a break from college homework.. 2004 season, come faster!!
i don't think Whizzer will go anywere any time soon. This was my second coaster which got me riding on the bigger coasters such as viper, shockwave(when it was at SFGam), raging bull ect. my first one was wind jammer@KBF
stolen_starz Demon is older that IW. Demon has been there since the park first opened in 5/29/1976 as well as the Whizzer and those are both steel coasters. I dont want IW to go next. I cant say which one I would like to go next becauase I love all the coasters. I was mad when they took out Shockwave and I still am. If they have to take something put again I think they should take out that Looney Toons place. I know thats the only place besides Camp Cartoon Network where the younger kids can play. I never see many people in either of those places anyway. They could fit something nice in that spot. I would also like to get a floorless coaster. I heard from a few of my friends that work at GAm and people that know Jim Wintrode and other people of high authority that we are going to get a floorless in 2005. Im not saying that this is true but these people are very reliable but I dont know what to think. Im just going to take it as a rumor for the time being.
And I know the Lemon Chill girl (yes, girl, not guy!) She said we are getting a B&M launched 4D with the launch designed by Premier. I heard it will not be pneumatic, or hydraulic, or LIMs, but it's going to use a quantum singularity to launch! It is expected one of every 100 trains will be lost in it.
lol Biggs lol but what happend to the guy at the Dippin Dots stand next to Iron Wolf? He said we were getting a launched underwater Togo standup.(this hillarious rumor came from thrill network awhile back)
well.....my brother's friend who use to work at the park.....(you know who) said that SFGAm isnt going to take down anymore coasters....but remember this is just a rumor, plus this kid likes to stretch the truth....but anyway, i think it would be better that the park expands instead of getting rid of great rides...
