Crazy Buffalo Saloon now Counter Service???

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Cs6153 on May 8th, 2005, 9:39 am
Has anyone gone into Crazy Buffalo Saloon latley?
We went yesterday, and it looked like it got ocnverted into a counterservice resturant instead of a full service resturant

I wonder if this is perm or temp. I swore I saw before when I looked at the SFGAM job listings I saw that they needed themed staff for Crazy Buffalo. So I am hoping this is just a temp thing. What do the rest of you guys think?

The Restaurant is no longer a sit down Restaurant. It is counter service.

One of the servers told me last year that they were starting to have a big problem with people doing the "dine and dash" routine at that restaurant.

They would eat and simply walk out of the place without paying the check. At peak times it's pretty busy and no one would notice.

It is a shame though if in fact they've changed how it's operated.

^ So, instead of fixing the policies so that dine and dash can't happen, just degrade the only decent resturant GAm has. I tell you, I really hate Six Flags, Inc.

Oh well... this just further cements my decision to never eat in the park. Food is cheaper on the outside anyway.

i liked the sit down service in there. People are stupid for dining and dashing. Too bad they had to change the way the service is there.

It is a shame, so there is no longer a buffet in there? They should have kept it, if it is gone, and made the people pay before they got in.

there is still a buffet in there. Its just that you go up to the counter, order, pay then they serve your food or if you ordered buffett you just go to the buffett and get your own drinks

So, wait, it's counter service, but they still have the old menu and bring the food to your table? Because if that's the case, that's not a bad change at all. If they eliminated all table service, or minimized the menu, however, it is a bad change.

well, we do not know whats going to happen. because the way it was changed seemed like it was spur of the moment. So they have not had time to make any "drastic" changes. We'll probably have to wait and see if they will convert it into a place like Moosburger lodge where you go up and order and get your food then sit down or if it will be where you order then sit then someone puts it in front of you. :?

All Iknow is that when I went there they move the soda machine out into the resturant area. in order for a soda machine to operate you have to have a water line go into it since it operates on water. so I am assuming that it will be permanant where it is no longer a resurant where someone comes and seats you, takes your order then serves you and gives you a check.

The thing that aggravated me was that 1. it was confusing becasue there was no menue outside like normal 2. the table where the hostess stands and takes your name was still there 3. they had little menus laying around for people to order from. There were alot of people leaving the resutrant because it was confusing and unorganized and also because it was no longer full service

If you pay up front and they serve your food or you go to the buffet, who really cares that they eliminated the waiter/waitress/tips aspect of it?

If it's true that people were taking off without paying, how can they be blamed for wanting the money up front?

Same applies to gas stations. Alot of pump and run so now you either pre-pay or pay at the pump with a card.

Hating Six Flags as one person said on here for this change is really petty.

What I was saying is that I hope that they do not totally convert the place where you pay they hand you the food at the counter then you sit like all the other resturants. I hope they keep it where they serve you at your table.

You answered my original question when someone talked about dining and dashing. If its true that they converted it because people are running away without paying I do not blame them. then its just sad that they have to change it because of a few bad apples. and after thinking about it for a little bit, what Chitown said is probably right its not too bad if they still serve you food at your table you just prepay like you do at a gas station.

Only thing is they should not change something because a few bad apples. The food can not cost that much that they would loose so much money that would have to change it. Also, they could of always found others way to prevent that from happening.

The think that gets me is that less people will stay in the park, because there is no Full Service Restaurants. Families love full service restaurants because it gives them time to relax. If they are looking for families to come to the park they need to keep Full Service Restaurants.

Do you really think more people would stay and eat inside the park if they have full service restaurants?

I believe the people that go out to their cars and eat or eat at an outside restaurant is due to the price of food inside.

If the Crazy Buffalo Saloon has you order up front , pay up front, and then they seat you and serve your food, I don't see what the issue is.

Only difference is you are paying for your food before you eat it. If people were taking off without paying, then it must have been an ongoing chronic thing and not just a few bad apples. This is the best solution to solve the problem.

I ate there a few weeks ago. You go to the counter, they hand you a menu.
If you want the buffet you order it and they give you a poker chip then you bring the poker chip to the buffet, and there is someone there handing out plates. You give them the poker chip, and get a plate for the buffet.
If you want to order food, you order the food at the cash register, pay and they give you a plastic number triangle. You put it on your table, and then they make the food and bring it to your table.

This is how most buffets work, where you pay before you are able to go up to the buffet, take Old Country Buffet or Ponderosa for example, you pay before hand, though they have waiters and waitresses, so I have the feeling that they might still have waitresses because how do you get your food if you choose not to get the buffet? They call numbers or something? I doubt it, I think that it is probally the same exact Crazy Buffalo as before except you pay beforehand.
