Updates on DeJa Vu and American Eagle

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Jamesb58 on April 24th, 2005, 1:36 pm
Hey Everyone:

I was at the buyout and I have a little update for concering
Deja Vu and American Eagle.

Deja Vu:
Not painted yet. About 5 feet of one of the supports has been
repainted, but the whole thing hasn't. It still looks horrible and
actually worse than before. I don't expect for it to be fully painted
any time soon.

American Eagle:
The Red Side, on the lift hill, didn't appear to have been retracked.
The Blue side, definatly has been retracked. Lift Hill side only.
Despite anything you have heard, None of AE has been repainted.
However, AE has a new train or they repainted the trains.

The Blue side does have a new Lift Chain system. A lot different
from what we have seen. It might be for construction only.
I don't really know. Much of Blue Sides track is rusted.
I don't expect the Blue side to be open very much, if at all this
year.

We'll see once we get into the season!

DeJaVu, they can paint during the season, they have 5 days (unless there are special days like physics day) between weekends to do what they please. They always seem to leave painting rides to the last min, perhaps because of weather or staffing. From what I've heard it sounds like there is primer and they blasted away a lot of the old paint. Anyways, I'm sure DeJaVu wont be closed all season.

American Eagle, the track is always rusted after rain or lack of heavy use. Now, lets see here, the ride just went 6 months without use, I wonder why it's rusty? If it was retracked, then perhaps they are waiting to finish construction before starting the testing of the ride. I do not know where everyone is pulling the idea of the ride being closed all season from? It's a major rollercoaster with great capacity, why would they just 'give up' and leave the ride closed?

The Red Train was running, and running very well I might add.
It was great getting back on the Eagle!

Physics days aren't until may 11th and 12th so repainting DejaVu might be possible.

BTR was painted before the park opened. The park likes to take there time with "minimal" things. What rides were open? How's Condor? Do you have any other insights?

Condor isn't ready yet. It's still being worked on.
It doesn't look like anything changed.

And don't forget, Demon wasnt finished being painted last year on opening day. The back half of the ride was still rusty and faded.

That's great to hear the Eagle Red was running good! :D
Finally Coaster Season!!

What rides were closed? As for Condor, I'm probably going to have to wait to June. That's when Triple Play opened.

Odd, DV was testing a few days ago. Though it was fairly cold/windy these past few days.

Hi im new, from what i remember from last season. i was waiting in line for red for along time, and after 1 hour of finally getting to the split (red/blue) there was really no one in line. the last person in line was the bottom of the stair well..... thats all i remember is that it was never that busy. but maybe that was just the days i went

Yep, it was definitely windy on Saturday and Sunday. That is the reason for this ride being closed. Hopefully, it's not the mechanics of the ride. JamesB, I'll have to ask the hard way. Was V2 open? Was IW open? Was SWF open? Was IMS open? Was Roaring Rapids open? Was Fiddler's Fling open? Was Whirlgig open? Was BEB open? Was SUF open? Was Logger's Run open? Was Ricochet open? Was Chubasco opened? Was BTR open? How about STT? :?:

I don't really care about VU, but for AE I have several questions.
1.) Did they retrack the lift and first drop of both sides?
2.) How many trains were new/repainted?
3.) Did both sides have the new chain lift system, and if not, do you think both sides will receive them.
4.) Is blue still running backwards?

That isnt sounding too good, which stinks. Almost everytime i go there its closed off, just wondering, did it look like anything was wrong or that there was a reason it was roped off. Other than that it looks like everythings pretty much ready for the season to start, im not too worryed about DV and with condor it will probably be just like Triple play and not open for a while.
Next SFGAm trip: heck I know...
