Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
If you look here on
RCDB.com , It says that Whizzer was called Williards Whizzer in 1993. Is there any truth to this?

Hmm. Interesting. Maybe some type of throwback name that year? I dunno. The parks had been out of Marriotts ownership for almost 10 years.
Hmm. If anyone has a park map from 1993 we can prove it, otherwise I am not altogether sure I believe it.

Very interesting indeed. It was called The Whizzer in 1992 , so I am not sure why the park would change it back to Willards Whizzer for just one year. I think it may be a mistake on RCDB.com's part.

No because RCDB says it changed to just "Whizzer" in 1980. And the them park brocheure called it "Whizzer" in 1992. Wonder where RCDB got their info for the 1993 case.

Notice that it says Willard's Whizzer 1976 to 1980-1993 and Whizzer 1980-1993 to ?. That means the name changed from Willard's Whizzer to Whizzer sometime between 1980 and 1993 , but he is unsure of the exact year. I'm not sure what is so confusing about that.

I would have bet that the name changed around 1984, when Six Flags bought the park.
Finally Coaster Season!!

J. Willard Marriott wanted his name dissociated from Whizzer following a fatal accident in Santa Clara.
