They are repainting right? Would that mean that it will be open alot more this season if not ALL SEASON? i mean why waist the money to REPAINT a ride if its broken all the time right?
Yes the ride will be painted soon. That doesn't neccesarily mean the ride will be open more or all the season. It means that the expect to keep the ride for atleast a little while and want it to look good. The ride will always have its problems. Personally, I believe this will be DejaVu's year, but we have all been fooled before.
DejaVu "This should be in the SfGam section" The Ride
I think that it will be open more, because last season it was open alot more than in 2003, and the reason it was broken most of the time, was because they didn't have enough staffing. I think that they are repainting it and planning on having it open more often.
Even ugly, non-functional lawn ornaments need paint!
Seriously, it was running on most of my visits last year. One difference I see between 'Vu' and other coasters is that when 'Vu' breaks down it seems to be done for the day.
Hopefully they can improve staffing a bit more too so that won't be an excuse for it not to be open.
Now, even though I can only get to SFGAm on average of 7-8 times a year, last year Deja Vu was open on all but one of those visits. That definately shows improvement over 2003, where Deja Vu was only open on 1 out of 8 trips that year. (And there is no way that paint could help the ride mechanically.)
The paint job will definately help it look alot better. Believe it or not, alot of people I talk to up around here, say that they still haven't ridden Deja Vu, and don't want to either. These people cite the ride's frequent breakdowns, and crappy/cheap apperance as reasons why they won't go near this ride. It's amazing how many people really think that Deja Vu is dangerous!
itll look a lot better if they fix up those patches on the ride..it seems like the ride is trying to hide in the forest or something..
but i hope the ride will be open a lot this year..it seems like they been working on a lot of the bugs on the ride..and it should be running smoother. we can only hope.

That amazes that so many people have yet to ride it for the simple fact that the ride is almost never empty (except when the park first starts up because most of the people run to SWT) when it is open.

last summer it was open atleast half the day when i was there, the only day it wasnt open was when i went with my school and they were understaffed. and i really think it needs a paint job, standing in line can get pretty annoying looking at all the touch-ups and engravings (but you cant help what people carve so thats a whole different topic )

It wasn't painted last year. Do you even remember 2003? Remember how Deja Vu didn't have a train on it for 2 months? Yeah I'm pretty sure it ran more this year...

From what I heard, dust or some thing comes off the trains and lands on the supports and that's what gives it the patches. If that is true, then how would they prevent it from happening over and over again?
Actually Dave or FParker or someone explained it pretty well last year. It's not dust but it's some sort of grease or oil that drys in patches. You can tell because people write their names in the spots. You can also see the inprint of basketballs on the supports.

Basketballs?!! No one should carry basketballs on the ride. They should be dropped off in the boxes prior to boarding the ride. What daredevils!
It's good to say that the track is oiled because that keeps the ride running smoother. But they need to paint over the light blue spots on the structure because that looks like paint chipping off if you don't look too closely.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

Yeah, it was something like oil and grease that sticks to the areas where the paint was touched up.
When they repaint the ride, they will have to scrub it down first, then do the painting.
I think what happened is the original paint job on the steel got messed up. The paint didn't stay on well after they joined the track together because they need to stretch the steel in order to make it meet correctly. The paint base was just a poor/cheap paint and it didn't hold up well. When they went to repaint the ride last year (which they did) they only did touch-ups of the areas that needed it, and the paint they used dried a different color than what it was supposed to, creating mis-matched paint splotches.
No worries- It WILL be done this year. They can't expect to open a brand new waterpark without making the rest of the park presentable.
