I wish I could. Maybe when I take Physics in a couple of years.

My Journalism class might be going on Journalism Day.
Has anyone ever been to that day?

Me and my fiance just happened to go on a physics day last year and let me tell you.... I cry about being old now (24) but I do NOT miss that junk. I have never had to use it in out here in the working world.

I went last year with my physics class, and let me tell you, i was banking on it being empty, dont count on it. Then we had to do homework, due the next day, but when the teacher noticed no one had it done then we go to do it the next day. I didnt think it was worth it at all. Sorry!

I went to it last year. It was great. The park is pretty much empty.

I went last year, it was pretty cool, the only reason it was good was because we got stuck on Bull and evac'd off the midcourse block run, that was the reason it was closed for almost 2.5 hours, and it wasnt me that broke it, just incase you thinkit is Ihauntu2. The park was crowded, every ride had at least a 10 minute wait, the limit is 10,000 people in the park for the physics day. The lunch, though, was good, it is an all you can eat buffet, like it was at Coaster Buzz con. All the rides were not operating, some flats were closed, but most coasters were open, i think only one side of Eagle was open, i'm not sure, but Deja Vu was open after the fog dissapated. We did have work to do there, but the packet that our school used was very easy, every school usually gets a different packet. In the one we had, we had to find the max and min force of 2 coasters of our choice, i had it done before I went to the park. Overall, it was a decent time, a little crowded, but short, really short.

2 years ago the park was crowded. The line for superman was 2 hours and most of the other lines were over 30 min. Rides do not run at full capacity so that does not help the line issue.

Its a gutshot whether or not it will be crowded. Just because it's a closed event, do not expect the park to be empty. I believe that 10,000 tickets are for sale per day.

You also cannot use your season pass no matter how hard you try. You must get a special ticket avaible through your school only. Pointless in my opinion, why spend 30 dollars to go to six flags when I could go for free 2 days later.

The season pass thing a good reason NOT to go. They released last years physics day packet, so you could do it on your own if you really felt like it. I think i'm going to ask my physics teacher if he'll give us extra credit for it.

I hate physics day. My school could totally do it, but as ya'll in high school should know, its the same week as AP testing, and thusforth, we have never gone to physics day :(

They should rethink planning in that sense, but alas, I fear they don't give a rats bum. O well, i think it'd be more fun to go for free the next day and get extra credit for doing the same work as opposed to just getting plain ol' credit.

Going May 12. I'm not little-boy excited. Especially since I'm going to CP for media day the 5th, opening day the 7th, and PKI the 8th. I read the "sample" 2004 packet from last year, not crazy tough. I like math (two years ahead of average) and physics. Better than school? Of course! 100 people, 10,000, I don't care. And if I don't go, I have to watch a video =( .
Yes.

I know my school has it, and I'll probably end up going even that I hate long lines. Hopefully when I go, I'll find a coaster that most people don't like to ride that much.

Not to say that it was you, but you do have to admit coasters seem to have a strange pattern of break downs whenever you're around.

As for physics day. I think that it is awesome that SFGAM has a day like this. Physics is what got me started into rollercoasters. I work in the engineering field now that I am out of school, so I use physics on a somewhat regular basis. In their simplest form they are nothing but a repeated conversion of potential to kinectic energy along any given vector. A rollercoaster is one of the most engineering intensive projects out there requireing several disciplines.

Civil - Topographic survey of a proposed site, staking locations for footers, determining concrete reinforcement, checking elevations of the ride and its profile during construction.

Structural - Determine stength of steel, bolts, and shapes of the elements to distribute force.

Mechanical - Train design wheels, shock buffering, braking sytems, lift motors, chains, pnuematic and hydraulics.

Electrical - determine power supply needs, voltage, design all control panels and sensors, possibly even some computer engineering for more complex systems.

By having a day like this, maybe the park will be able to spark more students interest in Physics / Engineering by showing that physics can be used for a lot of fun things. The field tends to be very male oriented due to a perceived lack of female interest ( just ask anyone who is going to school at UM-Rolla). Hopefully events like this can help reverse that trend as well.

I would hope that the day is very busy. That way the event has a better chance of meking an impact.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.

/\ It is true, I did get stuck on all 13 coasters last year at SFGAm. But only one of the can be partially my fault at all, the rest is just my luck of getting stuck, I don't mind it, I get exit passes and free soft drinks. I got a total of 8 exit passes and 10 soft drinks for 2004. It was great.
