What was your impression of S:UF the first time you rode it? For me, the real thrill was the pretzel loop, which left my brain screaming for oxygen at the very bottom
1100 tons of trouble...
A steel beast in a bad mood...
A supercoaster unlike any other in the world...
It's RAGING BULL!!!
1. Its FUN but short. They could have made it longer
2. Is a 1 min ride really worth the wait?
3. They say 3 trains like @ one of the other parks wouldnt help increase but i think it would. have one train entering the first set of brakes while one is going up the lift. while one is loading in the station
thats my specs. i like the ride. but really there are days i DONT ride it because i dont wanna wait. unless i buy a fast lane.
I basically loved it at the time I first rode it, but I wasn't a sucker for scenery. Since at the beginning of 2003, I was closer to GP status, the flying thing pulled me in. But even back then, I still wanted it to be longer. Finally, give it more themeing, and I can live a happier life.
The first time I rode it, it blew me away. I thought it was completely worth the wait. I rode it like 3 times each visit in May, and after that it started to get dull. I still think it's a fun ride, but not worth waiting the whole queue. I thought it was beyond awesome the first 10 times I rode it, then started to get sick of it, and one of my rides on it this past season helped me to enjoy it again.
I agree with DejaVuGurl the 1st few times I rode it I was blown away... it's such a different way of riding a coaster but after a few times it kind of loses it's shock value. Don't get me wrong if the line is fairly short I will wait but it's not a MUST have to ride on each visit if it's a 1-3hr wait.
count me in with DVGurl and PunkBunny. I think even the GP is getting tired of the flying gimmick. I'm not saying Superman doesn't have a line anymore, but the last few times I rode it hardly anyone screamed when the seats were pulled up into the flying position. I remember when the whole train would scream in fear when that happened.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.
Yep, count me in with DVGurl, punkbunny, and SFGA Bob.
The first time I rode it, I was actually having problems trying to figure out if I liked it more than Batman. But everyime I ride it for the first time in a season, it feels like the first time... I guess the novelty just wears off for me.
But these days, I still think it's a great ride, but I won't wait in a full que for it. Of all of the coasters in the park, there are four ahead of it on my list.

^That reminds me of Viper and RB. I don't think I can get sick of going on SUF, V2, BTR, IW, D Vu', or Demon. SUF is awesome everytime I go on it, and I will continue to go on it as long as it's around. After I rode it first at SFOG, I was hooked.

IMHO S:Uf is one of those one trick ponies. Yeah i realize it had more than just the pretzel loop, but thats the only thing on it that's different besides the whole "flying" bit. I've only gone on it twice and i have a season pass; its not enjoyable, not worth the wait, and was only fun once. Unfortunately, most of the people i talk to agree with me, and they're not people that post on forums. I think that part of my dislike for this ride is the fact that i waited all winter looking forward to it and got a little bit overhyped.
What you don't understand you can make mean anything.
Well, the first time I rode a SUF (SFOG) I was quite underwhelmed, and I said, I hope like hell SFGAm doesnt get this flying coaster (I knew at the time SF was looking to put one into SFGAm, but there was no word yet on the design), It's a pretzel loop, and after that they might as well have put the final brakes right there. Though it probably didnt help that I had ridden every Vekoma Flyer and AIR before SUF, all of which I think are far superior (Vekoma's are my favorite, but AIR does the flying sensation best, it's pure perfection when it comes to flying sensation), SUF you never get the flying sensation as the Pretzel loop is very unantural and it's power overshadows the rest of the ride, where there really isnt enough speed (or the design is a bit off) where it feels like you are hanging from a chair doing slow turns rather than flying, and it kinda showed as even opening year I heard quite a few negative comments from riders about how crappy they found it, and the guys from I think it was Channel 9 trashing the ride on TV on media day probably didnt help either. Although it really isnt a bad ride perse, it just misses it's mark really. On the other hand SUF does have a good story line to the ride that I was able to uncover.......
OK, Superman leaves his house and goes to a local bar called The Lifthill, after having a few he decided to have a pretzel, after which he exclaimed "These pretzels are making me thirsty!", after exclaiming it so loud, he was kicked out of the bar and needed to find his way back home, but he was far to drunk to do so. So he flew back and forth a few times trying to spot the fortress of solitude, finally on his last turn he spotted the fortress (the 270 helix), he did a flip out of sheer happiness as he was almost there, close to his comfortable couch so he could sleep it off, so once getting there he pulls into the driveway (pre-final brakes and turn), and parks it in the garage (station).
And he lived happily ever after, and didnt have a hangover the next day.
In the end, I enjoyed coming up with and since then telling that story really more than I enjoy the ride for the most part.

I have yet to ride SUF.... kinda looking forward to it this year...just to try it out.. But no way am i going to wait in line for it after what I am hearing :-d Glad i checked this thread out. Thanks
I felt that it was kind of boring. I haven't gone on since. I'm planning on going on it at least 4-5 more times this year. I don't think its worth the long wait.
I really liked S:UF the first few times, but I think the wait is too long, so most days i don't ride it because i don't want to wait, and I can get so many other rides in during that time.
The first time I went on it all I really needed was the lift hill. It scared me silly. The pretzal was an unexpected perk which I loved but I was bummed that the zero-g roll didn't do what Batman's does.
I'm thinking that if it had a zero g roll at 40 MPH it'd be a better ride, but I'm not sure because I've never been on a different flyer.

My first experience on this coaster equals my first experience on this kind of coaster. I was awed by the first time I would be rotated 90 degrees ahead and the feeling of that unique pretzel loop. I thought the rest of the coaster was boring due to the lack of elements. This coaster may already need an upgrade to add more elements. That's why I liked Shockwave better and I miss the blue icon. And as for the zero-gravity roll -- no, it doesn't make the ride much better.

I Drove passed a couple of times recently and I realized exactly what our skyline is missing w/o shockwave. You really can't ever see superman too well, and you could always see shockwave. Although I really like flyers, so I have to say if I had a choice between a standered sit down and a flyer I would pick superman.
My first impression of S:UF? Well, it was great. Seeing the ride for the first time from the parking lot was odd to say the least.(No Shockwave) I actually waited until the afternoon to ride it and ended up waiting for little over an hour. It was fun waiting, mostly because of a long argument between these older folks and some line jumpers. Then it was time to ride and My friends and I went to row 8(because that is what I had heard was the most intense.)
We lifted into the flying position and we were off. I thought the whole ride was great. Now when I truly think about it though, it was probably just because of its newness. Now, the pretzel loop is great and the rest of the ride is just fun or mediocre. I still try to ride it every visit(as do I try for every coaster), but it just isn't as great as it was on the first day. As for DejaVu, Raging Bull , and even the Whizzer. They have all been "great" ever since I have first ridden them.
Basically, I went row 8, like all other rides. I sat in my seat and was hoping for a descent ride. All I got, was a ride that seemed kinda boring after the pretzel loop, I mean there is no point to the rest of the ride. If it werent a flying coaster, I would have never gone on it again, but overall, I think it is a ride worth riding once a visit.

After I rode it a few times the ride kind of lost its novelty. I love to ride front row so I get a little float before entering the Pretzel, but I only go straight to it first thing in the morning, otherwise it isn't worth any kind of wait.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.

Of course, you should know better than anyone else on this forum, LOL. I'm sorry I made you wait that long for second ride of the day, it wasn't my fault.
