NO CoasterBuzzCon this year

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DellsFreak05 on February 9th, 2005, 10:53 pm
I spoke to Jeff and he said that there will be NO Coasterbuzzcon05 at sfgam. Usually it occured on a Saturday in May. I don't know how many of you attended the event - but it has been awesome the past 2 years. I know that ACE is holding its massive summer event at sfgam this summer, but does anyone know of any other ERT sessions for sfgam this year??

The coaster con at SFGAm looks to be the only event going to be held there this year. I doubt there will be another CoasterBuzz event there as Jeff has shown his dislike on the huge deposit he has to fork over. As for a regional ACE event that also is not going to happen this year due to the con.

Acutally CB is having the event this year at Dorney Park instead of SFGam.

At No Coaster Con the all that was said about the ERT was that it will be on every coaster. We will have to look back later for the times.

Speaking of Coasters After Dark. Has anyone heard anything about it happening again in 2005? I haven't heard anything yet.

Isn't ERT time for ACE kind of pointless, because there are so many ACErs that it would be just the same amount of lines as on a regular day?

How many ACEers go to these kind of things? Also, is a teenager going to feel out of place?

So that has been announced, correct? Or is that an assumption on your part?

Coaster Con isnt that packed at all, I went to the cedar point one last year, and there was less than a 10 minute wait on any ride, some you just kept going around to get right back on.

I went to the coastercon at BGW/PKD and while the lines werent awful, alot of the lines were longer during the ERT times than during regular park hours.
I was suprised then how slow these parks were on weekdays as SFGAM seems alot busier than these parks were in comparsion.

There are lots of ERT's during the season. You just have to find when they are and who is holding them. They usually occur during the early/late months of the season. Also, another good thing is to go during a buyout or even the last week of operating days for a full week. Last year, I went on a Friday, and there werent enough people in the park to make a line longer than 5 minutes for any ride.

An empty station on Raging Bull (literally, it was only a one train wait for front row) at 1:30 PM on a Friday is a very beautiful sight...

usually at ACE coaster Con after the first 20 mins of ERT, you can pick a seat and not get off for the remainder of ERT as there are usually 2-4 coasters at one time plus a hand full of flats included. Usual attendance is around 300-600 people for the con, sometimes more.

BGW/PKD was an strange con as BGW was extremely unwilling to work with ACE on some points, and we ended up getting ERT on like just Apollo's Chariot for one session, and in the end wiht some problems on Hypersonic PKD ended up having some pretty slim ERT sessions.

I do have some preliminary info on this years con, though I shouldnt say much yet though.

Con Hotel will be the Marriott Lincolnshire, this is where you pick up all the stuff for the con, like admission tickets, name badges and whatnot (between noon and 5pm for those keeping track).

There will be 11 hours of ERT at SFGAm including every coaster in the park, and it looks like most of the sessions will be 90 mins long.

There will be a season pass discount for the first time ever at an ACE con(though dont expect to much of a discount).

2 days before the con is Timbers Fest, day before the con there is an event at Indiana Beach, though only Morning ERT is offered and this event is still being worked out and, both of these pre events are not affilliated with ACE in any way shape or form and are not included in the con price, they will be open to all Amusement park club CARD CARRYING members.

More details will come out in the flyer that is usually released around March/April.

Im thinking SFGA Con will have a little lower attendance than last year, I believe it was so high because Cedar Point was in the main line up. But thats better for us going to the con this year.

FYI, a small update, I misread a few things and wasnt thinking. The IB event is being organized by the park with ACE, and is an ACE sponsored event, it will be open only to ACE members and their guests, however it's still it is not included with the con. Rest was correct though.

Later on in the season IB will likely hold another Lost Coaster Weekend, that is the event that is park sponsored and open to all card carrying amusement park club members.
