It's usually dead. Little lines and most rides are walk-ons. I don't know if that'll hold true for this year however, with the waterpark. It also has much to do with the weather.

If it's nice and above 60 degrees, then bet that it will be decently crowded.(ig 2003 opening day). If it's cold and a little rainy(or more) then it will be most likely dead.(ig 2004 opening day)

I dunno, in 2003 it was a beautiful day and Superman was just open so there was a decent crowd. 2004's opening day was driery and icky and about 2/3rds of more of the crowds were enthusiasts to some point.

I love opening day. Ususally dead with very short lines. And since hurricane harbor probably won't be open on opening day. It'll probably open around memorial day. I bet it'll be even less crowded then a usual opening day.

The waterpark won't be an issue for opening day, as even if it opens on time, it will most definitely not open until at least Memorial Day.

Like others have said, Hurricane Harbor won't have any affect on opening day, as it will not be open. Crowds usually depend on weather. Cold and rainy, very light crowds. Warm and sunny, decent crowds.

Alot of people know about Hurricane Harbor, so if they only go to the park a few times a year then they'll wait until the waterpark is open. And not alot of people go to SFGAm in may anyways.

On opening day, in the past, how long have you had to wait in line for some of the bigger rides like bull, superman, vu', and some of the other coasters?

Well the lines arent that bad. When I went last year on opening day, my neighbor and I waited 5 minutes for Bull. The weather was crappy and cold, and there was not many people there. Even if the park was gonna be semi-busy I'd still go because its SFGAM!!! I don't care about the crowds. LOL!

superman ususally has it's longest line of the year on opening day...(Not really, but it's shorter then it is from June-august.)
Vu is usually really really short (For VU) on opening day.
Bull is short compard to it's June-August crowd.
And that's basically the story.

I waited over an hour for Superman on opening day of 2003. But last year I only waited 15 minutes for it, so you never know.

EDIT: My friend and I also had the entire Demon and Whizzer trains to ourselves in the evening...

Read some of last years trip reports for info on opening day. I got a few walk-on rides on superman in the evening. Lines weren't long at all.

Yeah, last year on opening day in the later afternoon and early evening, our group got some re-rides on Raging Bull, Whizzer, Viper, and Batman, and walk-ons for pretty much everything else too. I also remeber V2 being a walk-on in mid afternoon. All the flats were walk-ons all day.
Finally Coaster Season!!
