Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby technop on October 18th, 2004, 11:20 am
The ENTRANCE AND EXIT OF NECROPOLIS Have been SWITCHED. In Previous Years, the entrance was by BATMAN and the Exit was by Loggers Run, This year, you will find the entrance at Loggers Run, creating a long pathway of spook. you exit by batman and ragin kajin! SEcond.

Last Years HH Prices - Sleepy Hallow $5 Mauslum Of Terror $5 Combo Pack (Both Houses) $7

This Year - Sleepy Hallow $7 Mauslum of Terror $7 Combo Pack $10

Necropolis walk through wasnt as good as last year, it wasnt as decorated. and there werent as many charactors. maybe just because it was a sunday night and they didnt have the staffing, but there wasnt as much frightness this year throughout the park.

This changes often. In fact, it is more common to have Necropolis set up with the entrance on the side it is -- It is a LOT easier to find there. Either way, you get the same "long pathway of spook" because the area is always the same.

The only years that it was any different were back when there was a trial where the Cartoon Network kids area is. One time, the entrance to the area went through the Loggers Run area and actually walked through part of Logger's Run queue line.

Last year the combo pack was $12.00, and it was $7.00 apiece. The houses actually got cheaper this year for the combo pass.

I don't know what you are thinking was more decorated. The only difference that I could see was that the buildings didn't all have up their spook names because of the new permanent structure that the Side Show was in blocked their facades. From the times that I have walked through it (including last night) it was just as intense as usual.

Yeah, everyone already knows about that, you haven't been here in a while have you? News as stupid as this should be saved for a trip report becasue we all know this. And if you don't like how its run why don't you go inquire about how to become the Fright Fest Decorations designer. I'm sure they hada reason to switch it and i like it better this way even if it is weird. So Calm Down, it's no big deal.

While it isn't groundbreaking news, no-one I don't think mentioned the increase in haunted house prices.

thecoasterguy:

Last years house prices were $5 each and a combo for $8. It was never $12 for both houses.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

well i walked through during the day so that might explain why there werent as many charactores and such. it was like 2 when i walked through, and i do believe there was more stuff last year....im sorry if it affendes people when someone else knows more then they do. you all take things so seriously, like know is aloud to mistakenly report wrong information. we are all human we make mistakes, its not like six flags will go bankrupt because someone says wrong information in a forum

If that's the case, I apologize. I was almost positive that they were actually cheaper this year. I seem to remember the $12.00 price from something last year though...

It all depends on perception I think -- the entire park doesn't look that decorated until night falls and you can see all of the lights. As for Necropolis, comparing my trips from the past however many years, it seems to be the one part of the park that stays very similar every year for Fright Fest. I really don't think that much has been changed other than that Ralphie guy is now there and the Freak Show got its own shelter.

The rest of the park seems to change a lot more. Last year there was the big thing where Jester's Wild Ride is now. This year the scrambler thing by Batman plays a song when it is run. I think last year we saw the introduction of the Hellevator (or was it 2002?) In 2001, ElectroShockwave was there for the only year ever. The monkey thing on the observation ride showed up last year. I can think of a lot of changes like that for the rest of the park, but Necropolis always seems to be Necropolis -- right down to the same stuff in those window scenes... I remember seeing Dracula "not in the mirror" way back in 1995 or so...

Actually, if they had the combo for $12, then you would end up paying $2 more than for an individual one for each house.($5)

I thought the admission fees were still $7.00 apiece like this year. Again, sorry. I didn't pay to go through either haunted house last year because of the cost... and if it was $8.00 for two I can't imagine why I found that outrageous but was happy to pay $10.00 for both this year and felt like I got a great deal.

There is no reason at all, other thne greed from a company that cant make a profit to have all the haunted houses a pay extra attraction.
Its sad when you read of all the haunted houses at parks like Knotts/BGT/USF that are part of the park admission and this park is unwilling to offer any haunted house/maze without trying to screw the guests out of more money and only offers a some sacre-actors in the park and had nothing special at all in the kids areas this year.
Im just glad that when i went on Fri. we didint spend one penny in the park!!!!

Have you seen the lines to get in the Haunted Houses at all? I went through Necropolis on Sunday night and when I went to get my ticket for the house, I was told that the line was an hour and a half long.

Can you imagine how long it would be if they were free? And Necropolis is free, as well as all of the ride changes.

I agree.. never has it crossed my mind that a haunted house inside of a amusement park would be free. They do not raise the prices for Fright Fest so why should it be included in the cost? I think allot of people think that Fright Fest is put on through Six Flags and therefore EXPECT it to be included.. I don't think that they know about JPM. I'm perfectly happy paying for those scares and good ones they are!!

Also, the park is not open for Fright Fest as a regular season, this is an add on event. Yet, they still let the season pass holders get in the park without paying. So, I suppose we could suggest making the haunted houses free if EVERY guest had to pay $40 or whatever to get into the park...

As you probably read. SFMM has 6 mazes this year. In no way would Six Flags and JPM make the 2 haunted houses free. And doesn't Knotts have 12 mazes for free with park admission?(They don't allow season passes and the prices are raised.)

There is no reason at all that SFGAM couldnt pick up the cost from jpm to put on the haunted houses that they do without soaking the guests.
As for paying extra, i would be happy to pay the full admission price(and not allow season passholders free entry) if the park put on the quality and quantity of haunted houses/mazes that parks like BGT/Knotts give to there guests, and these houses DONT require any extra upcharge fee's.
If SFMM can offer 6 mazes with the price of admission then there is no reason SFGAM couldnt offer a single haunted house/maze without making the guests pay for it.

then dont pay for it. Its not fair to us passholders who spend almost 100 dollars if they said Forget you pay addmission durning fright fest. that would be wrong. if you are willing to pay 60-70 to get into the park for one day why not just pay the extra 10 to get into the house instead. It would be stupid if EVERYONE had to pay extra money just for the funding for the houses.. a majority of people dont go into the house anyway.

Have you been there?

That's great if you have...I have been there...I grew up in So. Cal. I only moved out here 4 years ago. I have been to KNotts Scary Farm...I have been to Fright Fest at 6 flags. I have been to the Queen Mary (which is the best out of those three). They do not put the amount of people through any of those houses like JPM puts through theirs. There is a good reason why there is an hour and a half wait AFTER you buy a tciket to our houses.

Nobody is forcing you to pay $10 to go to the houses. They are there as options. You dont want to pay it? Dont pay it...move on.. Let me tell you this...Any one of those places that you have mentioned including the Queen Mary are open to those who buy tickets only. You cannot use season passes during Holoween events. They are also over priced to get in. If you cannot afford the 10 bucks to go through 2 haunted houses at SFGAM then move on and go to the other parks that don't seem like they charge you for entry. Common sense tells me that they do charge..hmmm...Also looks like our FF has an extra week in there.
The season for Six Flags ends in Sept. Fright Fest is an addition that normally you wouldn't have. And again...if you don't like what goes on a FF, go tell the front office at 6 flags. Maybe they will change it for you and charge you that extra 10 bucks when you com e in the gate wether you want it or not....

Peace
Big Mike

No one pays for Necro..

Necro = free walk through

Maus = the scary haunted house. Just because you may not get scared doesn't mean that other wont.

Sleepy = More for effects not for the scare. We dont claim sleepy as scary.. for some it might be but that is a pop out, trippy house.

Whats wrong with the props? The park goes all out and takes alot of time and effort to put them in. I am always amazed and how many props there are, and most of them are good. Each year (except for '02) I see new props.

The problem is that some people think that they are the only guests at the park year in and year out. In reality, which you obvioulsy do not live in, there are NEW guests that come to six flags each year, hmmmm. These guests have never seen the props or Necro or the Creatures before. Again, people like you are the problem because you think it is only for you. Grow up, enjoy what you got, and stop complaining. If you think it is not scary enough, go somehwere where it is scary enough for you. If you don't like what you see....go somewhere else.
Also, if you are paying to get into Necro, someone just played you...
