Sundays...

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Red Bull on July 24th, 2004, 11:37 pm
Hey everyone, I will be going to SFGAm for the first time this summer. I just wanted to know how crowded the park gets on Sundays. I'm flying out from San Diego and I definately want to get every coaster in. Which rides should I go to first and how crowded does the park get on Sundays. (Not asking on any certain sunday, but just in general).

Thanks
Red Bull

First of all, good luck, and second of all, we have no idea, generally its not too bad, but its July and anything can happen, and it can get BAD.

Today it looked like it was creeping on 35,000 (although it didn't look like it was there yet, I left at 1).
Sundays in summer are bad too, but a lot more bearable.

I'm actually going in early August, but I'm guessing that it would bascally be the same as in late July.

A lot more bearable than what?

Saturday, I would guess Virtua Tennis means.

Repeated from a past topic but this should help.

How do you make your way around the park? Near the beginning of the day, go to the right because you have Raging Bull (very popular ride), Viper, and even Demon (four inversion fun ride). Deja Vu (very popular ride) is this way, but it will probably be closed. On the left side is Superman Ultimate Flight (will be packed because it is near the front), Rajin' Cajun (not usually open in beginning of day), V2, and Batman The Ride.

Ragin' Cajun, Deja Vu, Raging Bull, and Superman Ultimate Flight are usually the most packed rollercoasters. No matter how short Rajin' Cajun looks, it is long.

So, the better is to the right. Looney Tunes show was not to good. Magician show not that bad. When the park gets jammed packed, I usually head for the flats and come back later for the rollercoasters. SKIP Space Shuttle America (Stargate SG 3000). Rides usually get less packed at night. Also, if you are in a line before closing time, they will let you stay in the line no matter if it's an hour wait.

It's only 1300 feet! I wouldn't call that long. jk :)
Actually 2 switchbacks on Cajun would be about 15 minutes.

Also, If you have time, do ride Stargate SG-3000. I liked and so did my friends. Only ride it if you have time though.

Depends on crew, # of cars, how many handicapped riders come up.

Lately they've been running 5 cars.

I've waited an hour through all 8 switchbacks. They were running 5 cars. The line was even a little out of the entrance.

If you want to ride Superman, go there first because it has been packed lately. Raging Bull is the best ride, but it hardly ever gets a big line.

Here is the order of importance for me. This is not the order to ride the rides in but the order of what is best. Make sure you ride the ones on top. Only do the bottom ones if you want to.

1. Raging Bull
2. American Eagle
3. Ragin Cajun (if its running fast, if slow skip it)
4. Deja Vu (if its going)
5. Viper
6. Batman the ride (could have big line)
7. Giant Drop
8. V2
9. Demon
10. Superman (probably a big line)
11. Whizzer
12. Iron Wolf

Probably many people here will disagree, but this is my list.

And, I see your form CA. Remember that our park is better than our once sister in Santa Clara.

If Batman has a long line, it always goes fast. Since the ride is about a minute and 30 seconds with two trains. The wait might be long, but it goes by really fast. So if you see the long line (not including the orginal line (not starting where gothom city starts) get in line.

Just to sum up the wait for Batman. The wait time inside the Gothom City Park is usually around 45 minutes.

What? On most of my visits it has a crowded line. Their crew is very efficient so the line moves fast, and that makes the line shorter, but it usually has one of the longest waits in the park.

^ The majority of the times that I have gone I have walked up to the bottom of the stairs. I have yet to see the second queue house used this year.

You went on non crowded days, the line takes awhile to form because they start with 3 trains on days expected to be busy. I've seen the line in the second queue house many times this year. But compared to other rides yes the line has been short becauese of the the good capacity, on many occasions this year i've seen Demons line longer.

Thats another reason why Raging Bull owns all, the line moves faster than any other in the park, that's why I think we could really use another big coaster that could move crowds. The only other coaster we have that runs 3 trains is Demon, which doesn't need it (in my opinion) as much as Raging Bull does.

The best flats in my opinion are: East River Crawler (Yankee Harbor), Triple Play (Hometown Square), Condor (Orleans Place), Ricochet (Southwest Territory), and Fiddler's Fling (County Fair). Revolution (County Fair) is not that bad though.

There are others, but those are my first recommendations. Someone will disagree with me though. I'm giving you areas so it would be helpful to find these.

If you try Fiddler's Fling, sit alone. The centrifugal force really takes effect, and someone can get hurt if you are not sitting correctly.

I haven't been on that many flats before. Probably the most intense ones (If you really call them intense) are a Chance Chaos, an Enterprise, and a Huss Morgan Revolution 32 (http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%2 ... ion32.html)

I want to go on King Chaos and Revolution, but I will decide that after watching a few cycles. :?

However, it's much different with coasters. I've been on 90 so far and will break 100 after going to SFGAm. :)

Revolutions not that bad, but recently they made it very, very long. If you can't stand going up and down and spinning at the same time for awhile don't bother.

Also King Chaos runs different almost everyday so I can't comment on that (although recently theres been a part where you do many consecutive flips while going down).

One other thing I would like to know...Does anybody know the on ride camera policy for the rides? I love taking POV video, but a lot of places don't allow it.

You wouldnt happen to be mexican would you?

J/k

Park policys prevent POV's without proper permission, and permission is only granted to members of the media when following coreect safety procedures.

GAm takes the footage for media use (they have the camera, media brings they're tapes for it).
