Revolution: Is It Worth Taking Out AGR?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on July 15th, 2004, 8:27 pm
Since I haven't seen a Revolution topic in awhile, it deserves one for being a new ride. I was just wondering if you guys (and girls) like the new addition (Revolution) instead of Ameri-Go-Round that was in it's place.

Which one is better and what would be cool to do for Fright Fest to the Revolution to make up for the missing AGR?

I like the new addition because we had "three" (if you consider a double-decker two) carousels before, and it adds to the Am E theme of the red, white, and blue. On top of that, the AGR was usually not that crowded. To me, the Revolution is just a so-so ride, but it is a good move for SFGAm.
It reminds me of a weaker Scat.

For Fright Fest, it would be cool if they had some ghost or skeletons climbing up the four poles on Revolution.

Yeah, anythings better than Ameri-Go-Round, mainly because of how unpopular it was. I literally saw people standing right next to it and then saying "lets go on the Carousel, but it's all the way at the front of the park."
Revy's not the best ride, but definitly a good addition. I also like how it's patriotic themed, they needed some of that (they also painted a lot of that area).

AGR didn't open until noon last year. I NEVER saw a line for it. Revy is much better. For some reason that space looks bigger with Revy than it did with AGR.

I think they either moved it back a little bit, or they added many queues so it looks bigger. It's a little closer to the walkway then it used to be (I think). Also, I forgot to notice last time, but did they take out the grass over there? That could have something to do with more room.

Also, do you think they can do anything for Fright Fest to the Revolution because for awhile AGR had good Halloween (not last couple years though) theming.

Another thing about AGR was it was NOT fun at all. I even think CC is fun. I think every ride is fun. I just couldn't find that fun though.

They still have some grass on the side that faces AE. It looks new (sod) though.

It was a good decision to put Revy in in my opinion, I really like the ride, and I think it is makes County Fair look better with Revy in the middle with American colors rather than AGR, not a very exciting ride

Themain reason why AMG was ran was because; It was the last of its kind, and the longer they ran it they more its value goes up.

I was just wondering. At PGA, did they put their Giant Drop in AMG's place? I know that they had an AMG but it was different than ours.

I personally love Revy! I go on it at least 2 times each visit and I had not been on the "scary" carousel for years so in my opinion I think it was a good decision.

Drop Zone, which is the same thing.

It was definitely worth replacing AGR. I think it was just time. I rarely saw many people on it. Rarely saw it open for that matter.

I think it was worth it. I rarely ever saw AGR open. Revolution is a great ride.

There was never really deisre to ride the puny (to the GP, "we" know how much its actually worth") Carousel when theres the classic double decker at the front of the park.

I think it was a great addition, and it really adds to the theme of County Fair. I have yet to ride it, but it is on my to do list. :)

Since Ameri Go Round was so unpopular, does anyone think GAm would re-install it elsewhere in the park? I know there was talk of it if they couldn't sell the ride. But what would be the point, since it was never open, and as said before, people would rather ride CC.

I don't think it will be coming back anytime soon. How can you make a non-hidden ride popular again? It wasn't even behind a game. The problem is that they want too much money for it.

Exactly, and Great America is asking quite a lot for it too, and why shouldn't they? :)

Even that i have only been on it once, i still think it is better than the merry go round and alot of people go on it.

It's money that the general public just doesn't appreciate (nor do I). I could care less how much a ride costs, just as long as it's fun.

Money doesn't mean that much for us, but parks have to spend wisely. However, you have to realize that AGR is worth quite a bit for being a non-popular ride at SFGAm. How many parks need a quite expensive merry-go-round though?

I always try to get on Revy because it is fun, when AGR was there, I never rode it. I know that it is worth a bunch of money, and there are places and people that would buy it (i.e. rich people that have to much money to know what to do with it).
