I don't know how many people actually see this show, but the Pictorium is more of a lecture, or a "school" video than a great show. The main reason why we see this mostly every year is because it's air-conditioned. If they had nothing on the screen, I would probably still be in there. My dad falls asleep to these shows.
The best one they had was an alien one in which they went to this amusement park and they went on rides. I went with my class, and they felt like throwing up after this. I don't know why.
I think a movie would be a better choice to put in place of these "lectures". It can't be too long, but if it's good, people would stay. Instead of people leaving the show before it ends, people would stay. I would suggest a newer Scooby-doo cartoon movie. However, I know that they will have to reformat it to fit the entire screen. Another thing would be cool if they could buy the right to The Three Stooges and show shorts (15-20min episodes).
So, what do you think? Do you like the "lectures?" If not, what would you replace them with? I might as well add this, which show did you like the best? (For Pictorium only, NOT SSA) For me, it was the amusement park one.

I remember one time a while back, the only time I ever went into that place, they were playing a movie about airplanes. I like airplanes. So i liked it. But it didn't fit in with anything at six flags. I like the stooges idea. Either that or old black and white cartoons.
What you don't understand you can make mean anything.
From what I have seen, many people exit the pictorium and feel they are uncheated. I think it is only a matter of opinion if you like it or not. Also, if they have the 3 stooges, what would the point be of putting that on i max?
The Pictorium *used* to have good movies back in the day, but lately they've been pretty boring. I remember falling asleep during one 2 years ago. And I've noticed most people leaving early. Those movies are like 45 minutes long! Give me a quick 20 minute movie and I'm happy. The worst thing they did was that one a few years back that you had to pay for. I think it was the Rolling Stones movie.
There are two types of people in the world...those who get the joke, and those who don't.

Well say SFGAm was supposed to be taken down, which won't happen (Knock on wood), they could show it. But I really want some info as to what Demon's music was like.
I changed my avatar in honor of papas. What happened to him?
If SFGAm was taken down, they wouldn't have the Pictorium anymore. Just a little off topic, but they did show a little history on the tvs a couple of years ago. However, they didn't include Demon music.
Do you have a favorite Pictorium show, or do you not like it altogether and do you have any suggestions for what they can do to improve it?

I work in the large format industry... and let's just say Six Flags is very generous with regards to its Pictorium. As far as I am aware, they are the ONLY IMAX theatre which lets you see a presentation for free. Every museum, zoo, multiplex, etc. charges as far as I know. The sister park in Santa Clara used to let people in for free, but has since closed the theatre since they were 'losing money.'
It costs money for the film prints... they either lease or buy them outright. That, along with the payroll of a dedicated projectionist, hosting staff, electricity (15,000 watt lamp, 12,000 watt sound system at peak, etc.). The costs add up pretty quick over the course of a season. They could charge $1-2 a ticket and break even, but they don't. Instead, they lose money as a customer service to their guests. The only movies that I can recall they charged for was Michael Jordan to the Max and a concert movie (maybe Rolling Stones to the Max like mentioned above), where it was only $5... that was a brand new movie, and the distributor required a cut of the gross. Could some of the movies be better? Sure. But be grateful that they are generous enough to not charge for it.
By the way, for those of you saying "well, I pay for it in the admission price like the other shows"... Zoos and Museums also charge admission, and every one of them charge seperately for their IMAX theatres. SFGAm is an exception. Oh, one other interesting fact... Cedar Point, Santa Clara, and Gurnee all had the same size IMAX theatres with 960-980 seats... by far the largest IMAX auditoriums in the world by a few hundred seats. Cedar Point and Santa Clara closed down... Gurnee is the only one left.
What kind of shows did Cedar Point and Santa Clara show? It was either that it got too expensive, or people didn't care for it.
