With the all the problems that D Vu' has (closing everyday), do you think that SFGAM will keep it after this year? With SFGAM taking out rides (it seems) each year (Haybayler, Sky Whirl, Power Dive, Shockwave, Merry-Go-Round, Rolling Thunder, and so on), will they take it out?
Also, do you care if it breaks down? I mean, if it keeps on breaking, will you still wait in line for a ride on D Vu'?
For my answer in the first question, I sadly think they will take it out. And for the second q, I don't care if it breaks down. It's well worth the breakdowns!!! What are some of your opinions?
The problems they have with the ride now, are nowhere near as bad as they had with the ride when it first opened.
The ride has made dramatic improvements in relibility and it most likely isn't going anywhere for awhile. Vu is still a fairly new ride, and one of the most popular rides in the park.
This is a little off topic, but didn't the park say they would try to put the Ameri-go-round back up possibly next year? Where would they put it is the question.
I see Ameri-Go-Round replacing Turbo Bungy. That or in the middle of Hometown Square between the train station, Whizzer, and the pass processing center.
I also think they would put it across from the Orbit or under the Am E tent (where all those queues on the right side are never used now). Knowing SFGAM customers, it will be next years most popular ride. I really don't know why we need three carousels (doubledecker and this one).
in my opinion Deja` Vu is our most popular ride because many people havn't been on it because of it's past problems. People run to Deja Vu when they see it testing but they (usually) won't run to S:UF when it's testing.
The only thing I see riviling it for popularity is Raging Bull.

Personally, anyone thinking about the Removal of DejaVu is either nuts or stupid, because i seriously doubt very much that Great America would pull the plug on this ride 3 years removed from its opening debut. Yes, theres been problems however, Ragin Cajun has had some major problems in its weeks that its been open as well.
It cost them way too much to just give up on.... but anyway, I just want to take a quick look at the list of rides you gave trying to prove the point (I believe) that GAm is developing a "habit" of removing rides:
Haybayler: Removed to make room for Deja Vu, not very popular.
Sky Whirl: Removed to make room for Deja Vu, parts were a nightmare.
Power Dive: Maintanance nightmare, painful ride (guest complaints?)
Shockwave: Removed to make room for Superman, not very popular among GP.
Merry-Go-Round: Removed to make room for Revolution, may be coming back, redundant ride.
Rolling Thunder: Part of the Six Flags RideSwap Program.
So as you see, GAm does not just remove rides arbitrarily, they do it to bring us somthing better. What could be gained by removing DV, what with negative publicity, enthusiast disappointment, and GP confusion? No, far better to work out all the bug (which they will eventually) and keep it.
Cajun Cliffhanger - Removed due to the accident on it.
Hometown Square Kid Rides - Don't really know why they got rid of these, but all the rides were pretty old from what I remember.
While SFGAm has been removing rides they have been replacing them.
The rides that have opened at SFGAm since 1996:
Trailblazer Ricochet (was removed and rebuilt) River Rocker Chubasco Giant Drop Spacleys + the other camp cartoon network rides Raging Bull Deja Vu Vertical Velocity Superman: Ultimate Flight Ragin Cajun Jester's Wild Ride Revolution Big Easy Balloons King Chaos
That's 15 rides in like 8 years....pretty good if you ask me. I think we have recieved more new rides since 1997 then we have had rides removed.
Deja Vu is fine this year. When they do have an issue and it goes down, I always know it'll be up within 15 min or so. And it always is. It's been up and running well every day I've been at the park this season.
Let's hope problems with Deja Vu are less and less or I fear it will go but not this year. As for the old Carousel I really want to see it come back to Great America, however sorces say the park is activly looking for a buyer. On another note it or any new or used kides rides wood fit nicely in the big void in The Lonney Toons section.
Everybody have a great weekend at the park. Also keep your fingers crossed for next Wednesday.
I don't know if the reason was because of parts problem, I don't think it had too many parts. My theory is that guests were always doing something (spitting or standing up) because all the time I would see security come from the fence located to the side of what used to be Haybayler. However, I don't why they still keeping the cars. Man, that ride must've weighed a lot. No wonder they had to skip every other car, that fan what I called it, couldn't take much.
About Power Dive
I think they took that out because people didn't go on it. One of the biggest problems that I have with any park is hiding rides. I think that was hidden in the back of the concession stand. Hometown Fun Machine, former Haybayler, Triple Play, Jester's Wild Ride, even Viper they put all the way in back, and the TrailBlaizer they put in a building.

I agree, SFGAm doesn't own much land, there're using every bit avaiable to them, and will remove rides when THEY think it's nesscary(sp?)
As for Deja Vu, last time I was there (May 31st, 2004) It was operating fine, in fact the lines for Vu were quite long, I think as each year goes by, Deja Vu gets better and better in reliability(sp?) They do have most of the bugs out of Vu, right?
I agree with you about filling in the blanks, but I think that our park has more than enough room to put rides in better locations. The food concessions, games and shops will always be in a place in which you can find easily because they make $$$. Put a concession stand in front of KC and you have Power Dive. (I don't mean that KC is the same as Power Dive, so don't complain about that.)
So much depends on a rides fate in my opinion due to it's appearance, what type of ride it is, and it's location. in my opinion, if Revolution was stuck in a building like Trailblaizer, I don't know if it would be as popular as it is. Instead it's right in the center of County Fair. (And no, it's not exactly in the center, so don't get out your measuring tape).
Finally, I want say something about the former Haybayler. At a carnival called Bloomness, they had the Thunderbolt. I am not going to declare that it's the greatest ride (even though I do like it), that ride was packed every year that I went. I also am not declaring that Thunderbolt and the Haybayler were the same ride, but I have to say that they were quite similair. in my opinion I think that Haybayler would've had better attendence if it wasn't "hidden."
in my opinion Deja Vu is the best roller coaster ever.
Deja Vu's line gets crowded very fast which I (sometimes) like to see because that adds more guest to the "counter thing". On the other hand if I'm dieing to ride Deja Vu and the line is in the spot where the yellow shade is then I don't get in line.
Another question is what is that "counter thing" for. Is it to determine the rides popularity so SFGAm can determine if the ride should be taken down within the next year of so?
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu
