Media day now set!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Geno21K on May 5th, 2004, 10:26 am
I don't think I've seen it posted, so I just wanted to let everyone know that Media Day at Sfgam has been set for Thursday, May 20. It is scheduled to be held from 4 a.m. - 1 p.m. and it boasts exclusive looks at the new rides, the Mardi Gras area and exclusive ride time. I'm pretty sure that my editor and I will be trying to head up there for it. I love working for the media! I will try to post with some details after we've seen everything.
I'm gonna twist ya, and I'm gonna flip ya. Every time you squeal, I'm just gonna go faster and harder.

Now does this mean that the new rides will not open until after Media Day? I pray not because I'm taking my nephew on the 19th!

4a.m.? that seems aweful early. I mean, I know there are early morning shows, but I figured most of them would wait until later on to broadcast the rides.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

You'd think they would wait until the sun came up right? Maybe they wanted to show them the new rides in the dark?

It will be light by the time that the news crews get all their stuff set up. Sunrise is somewhere early (It's only one month away from the summer solistace) and it gives the crews time to get some film in for the morning news.

They could still open before that. Remember in 2001, V2's media day was May 25th but it opened the 18th.

The way the rides currently looked on the 1st, it really doesn't look like they will open early.

Yes, I will be attending. Doesn't the invitation say just until 10AM? The reason it's so early this time around is because the park will be open to the public on that day at 10AM.

Why don't you spend the night at my house that night... you know you won't get your ass out of bed in the morning unless I'm yelling "Mike! Mike! Mike!" and beating you with a pillow. Granted, I will have to put up with the snoring. :(

Does anyone know if the rides will be open that day to the public? I will be going down with school that day, and it would be really nice to be able to get a few rides on King Chaos that day.

Yes, it starts at 4:30am and to participate you MUST be there until at least 10am. I have the official signup sheet from Six Flags in front of me, I just faxed my info to them.

Just incase anyone had questions on that.

I don’t think any one knows this. It all depends on the weather for the next 2 weeks and also how fast the construction workers work.

Six Flags needs to INVITE you to media day. You cannot show up without being invited and say you're here to take pictures for a photography class.

Whats with you guys and media day? It's not really that big of a deal, and it's not worth discussing about like this considering most of us will not be attending. Kind of like discussing the buyout thats going on right as I type. Anybody gonna make a huge topic about it?

Did anyone receive his or her Conformation for Media Day yet?
Do you think that Media Day will be postponed? Because Ragin’ Cajun looks like it needs a lot of work, and according to the guy that was working on it, He hoped to have it running on Thursday, but there is still a lot of work to be done.
