Interesting. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is renaming their Goliath to Chupacabra. Definitely a great fit for Texas.
Do you think our Goliath will be renamed? If so, what would you want it to be? I would personally want it to be something Patriotic to fit in with the County Fair theme.

I hope so. The only Six Flags Goliath should be Magic Mountain’s.
I’d also agree with the Patriot take, that wound be way better than status quo.

The question is.... what patriotic theme can be good enough to replace the preexisting Goliath?
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back

It would reuse an existing name. But Great American Scream Machine could work

Not really true unless I am missing something. Vortex closed in 2019, but otherwise CF have not closed any other arrow loopers since they closed Geauga Lake. 1 Arrow in the last 15+ years is pretty good all things considered.

Don’t see the park getting a new coaster before then unfortunately.
Tough question. Historically speaking for the park averaged a new coaster every 2.25 seasons from opening through Maxx Force. Then covid threw in a wrench, and now the merger. I'm thinking no earlier than 2029, but could easily see it going to 2030 or later (hopefully not, right?)

I love the Chupacabra fit for SFFT & at the time in 2013 when Goliath was announced, I was bummed with the name as it was very six flags. I always felt Gargantuan would be a better fit while meaning the same thing. But now that it's been Goliath for over 10 years, I cant see it any other way & would oddly be bummed all over again. I really do like the entrance portal & logo they went with for us. Only others that have us beat in terms of signage is Goliath at La Ronde & obv Goliath at SFMM.
Gargantuan is a hella good name though but I'd much rather now see it used on a giga for us.
As for getting a new coaster, the every two years approach was mainly possible due to going with smaller or cheaper models despite us being overall lucky over the last 50 years. CF has a slightly different approach with their major parks getting a massive coaster every few years with a bigger budget. Parks like KI seem to get a coaster every 3-5 years in "recent" years. 2009 was Diamondback, 2014 was Banshee, 2017 was Mystic Timbers, 2020 was Orion & 2024 we saw Snoopys SoapBox Racers.
Carowinds has the same approach. 2009 was "Carolina Cobra" which was later renamed. 2010 was Intimidator which as we know was also renamed recently. So in back to back years, they got two major coasters. Regardless of one being a relocation. 2015 was Fury325, 2019 was Copperhead Strike, & 2025 will be Snoopy's Racing Railway.
But let's also look at Canada's Wonderland. That park gets a ton of interesting flats. But as coasters go they have gotten Behemoth in 2008, Leviathan in 2012, Guardians in 2014, 2019 was Yukon Striker & their two newest are 2023's Snoopy's Racing Railway & Alpen Fury for 2025.
So I can see us getting a new kid or family coaster for the anniversary but it may not come til 2027 with another major coaster coming 2028 or later. & I really Think it will finally be the giga. I just hope it's not at the expense of another coaster.

It's gonna be at the expense of another coaster, i don't think there's any trickery they can pull, not only with space but their coaster removal clock is also up this year (Raging Cajun was the most recent coaster removed 11 years ago, and the biggest coaster removal gap was between the Gulf Coater in 1976 and Z-Force in 1987)

Also no, a water coaster isn't exactly the same
I actually DON'T want the flumes to go. I like the peacefulness and relaxation of them as a change of pace after hitting a ton of coasters in a day. But they are coming up on 50 years old, rarely run at the same time and are down when they're short staffed.
I know a water coaster like Poseidon isn't the same thing but you get a coaster with TWO nice splash downs and 2 water channels!
Plus the theming is pretty good on that ride!! And they could name it "Buccaneer Battle" lol

But they ran the same time this year tho, the first time n a while, it wasn't everyday, but it's a start

Yeah I hope it comes sooner. But like you say the merger is definitely a factor.

Goliath at La Ronde is such a good ride. I love everything about it except the name. And it was painted in Superman colors, so the theme doesn’t even make sense.

Isn't there a theory that the coaster was made for AstroWorld before the park died?

Or put it in Eagle's plot! Iron Eagle: Soaring to New Heights
As for Goliath rename what about "The Patriot" ? I know that ride name is used at Worlds of Fun already but it's a great name!
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like a giga can fit in the flumes space. The only space I can see them putting a giga without removing American Eagle is in the backstage area of the park along that strip of land right next to the giant storage building

How about if they also remove V2?

If they can fit Maxx Force in where a theater was and Rak where Suckaneer Battle was (along with Demon's front lawn) I'm sure they can find space for our Giga!
JackGlass - what's a bigger plot: the Flumes total area or Rapids (including all those trees between it and Dark Knight)?

From the looks of it. The Flume area is slightly larger, but not by much.
There was a rumor on Screamscape about a year ago regarding Great Americas "5 year plan" It included a dive machine, a raptor and an Intamin giga on a strip of land along the perimeter of the park.
The dive machine did end up coming true. If the other two were to happen, this is how I think it might play out.
Raptor. Move triple play to Revolutions old spot, Demolish Johnny Rockets and reroute the parade route. They could fit a fairly large custom raptor, similar, but not identical to Jersey Devil in that plot of land running right along the train tracks. Rapids remain untouched
Giga. This is pretty much the only realistic plot of land to build a coaster of that size and it matches the description in the Screamscape rumor.
EDITED - Just to show how large that strip of land is I copied and pasted the American Eagle onto it.

Would love an Itamin giga. There was talk a few years back of having workers park across the street to accommodate more guest parking during Fright Fest.
So if they actually move the employee lots there would be plenty of space.

There's no way that thing can go over the railroad, or that there's space enough to dig underneath it like Maxx Force
