I want a new coaster to have something we don't already have such as a Giga or a dive coaster. I still hold that Eagle is the logical/likely spot to build that giga.
As for Roaring Rapids, staticshadows posted that video where Park President John Krajnak said it's not going anywhere.
I don't know how well the go carts do but the world's tallest screaming swing would go there easily.

I would love to see the speedway return.
We pretty much already have a dark ride with Justice league. Sky striker fits the County fair area very well. Cedar Fair in recent years has been really good with adding attractions that fit to the themed area. They did a great job with Orion at Kings Island and amazing work with the African themed section at Kings Dominion. They will almost certainly do the same for Great America.
We love coasters and so does the general public. A giga or a giant dive machine would bring lots of guests into the park and this is the genius behind Cedar Fairs business model. They're able to keep their parks clean, family friendly while adding some of the best coasters in the world.

I was just at Kings Dominion earlier this month! The African themed section was done very well.
And I totally agree with how great a job Cedar Fair does with their business model. I've been to Cedar Point, Kings Island, Worlds of Fun and Kings Dominion. All parks were neat and clean, family friendly , food was excellent and the ride selection was great and ride operators hustled and were enthusiastic (unlike those at Six Flags America)

Regarding Justice League, it's fine but i wish we had something better and more original than a cloned dark ride
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back

Yes to a S&S Screamin’ Swing in the go karts spot. That or a SkySceamer. We’re really overdue for one of those. I’d even take a Disk’o Coaster to replace the go karts.
GreatAmericanfox wrote:What's your thoughts on the Speedway that used to be there?
I think that it was a way better ride than the ride that replaced it. As long as it had good scenery and the gardens surrounding it were taken care of, it sounds like it would be an amazing ride. You always have to have a few gentler rides that the whole family can enjoy to balance out the coasters. I would even be down if the park brought it back, which won’t happen. If Cedar Point can make it work in Cadillac Cars, who says SFGAm can’t?
GreatAmericanfox wrote:Why do you guys all want coasters? Why not a dark ride? or a flat ride that fits in with one of the lands?
Three reasons for me. First, it honestly seems like the most reasonable direction for the park based on past decisions made by management. Second, as a coaster enthusiast, coasters are the most important part of a park for me. The only park I’ve been to where the coasters don’t matter to me is Disney, but besides that, the coasters are always a priority. Third, Illinois already has a family park in Santa’s Village in Dundee. Santa’s Village can fulfill the family park role while SFGAm can fulfill the thrill park role. Plus, I think that Great America already has enough flat rides. The only thing I wouldn’t mind the park adding is a Mondial WindSeeker.

I agree with the new coaster needing to be different. What I don’t agree with is removing Eagle. I think some Gravity Group Engineered Pre-Cut track would do wonders for that thing. The thing about the Rapids video is that it was posted two years ago. A lot has happened in the past two years, like the aforementioned Over Texas incident and the merger. If we aren’t getting a coaster in the Go-Karts plot, then I agree with wanting a Screamin’ Swing there. Something like Skyhawk or larger and I’m sold. (Maybe the SSA stands for “Screamin’ Swing Announcement?”
GreatAmericanfox wrote:Regarding Justice League, it's fine but i wish we had something better and more original than a cloned dark ride
Justice League is too chaotic for me. I’m all in for Sally coming in and making a Looney Tunes or Ghost Blasters I dark ride.
Honestly, the park should go the family route to me, that's how it started with Marriott, and the building blocks for theming are still there. If they started caring about theming again, then i'm sure people visiting would too. I want the atmosphere back instead of turning it into a Great Adventure or Magic Mountain where they prioritize the biggest and baddest coasters over atmosphere.
Also Santa's village is ass, no one really goes there
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back
CoasterRiderSC wrote:How about a family invert like Phoenix Rising at Busch Gardens Tampa? It's 1) New coaster 2) Family oriented 3) B&M
How can/would you fit it into the park's theming?
Blue_Toad_Coasters - can you come up with the theming?
Sure! Here are the basics of a couple ideas I have. If anybody wants anymore details, I’d be happy to share them!
Taking over the plot of Dive Bomber, Mega Wedgie, and Wipeout, we have American Aviator! Seeking new recruits for her School of Spectacul-Air Stunts, Amelia Noonan has brought a contraption she nicknamed “Air Shuttle America” to test potential recruits’ endurance and fearlessness. Now, Amelia is calling all visitors — big and small — to try out her “Air Shuttle America” so that she can see if they have pilot potential or not.
In the ever-so-famous Go-Karts and Buccaneer Battle plot, we have Midnight Flight! Ever wondered what it must be like at midnight in the Yukon? Well worry no more since you can experience it here at Six Flags Great America! Whether it’s bright or dark at midnight in the actual Yukon, you can experience both version in one day on this ride! Dodge wildlife, enter the mines of the Klondike region of the Yukon, and more in Midnight Flight!

What do you guys think?
These are interesting ideas, though i can't figure out where's the second plot

Let's hope it's not Giant Drop. I wanna go to SFGAm so bad (my home park is SFGAdv) and ride that thing, even though I'm scared of drop towers. I didn't even do Voodoo Drop at SFA, yet I did Hershey's Tower at Hersheypark...
CoasterRiderSC wrote:Blue_Toad_Coasters - STELLAR themes! Is the Midnight Flight the B&M Dive coaster?
I suppose it could work either way, but it was intended to be an alternate idea for the B&M family invert.
GreatAmericanfox wrote:These are interesting ideas, though i can't figure out where's the second plot
There isn't any besides "you are going on a flight in the Yukon." I thought about giving it a more complex story, but I decided that some of the best coasters to me (like Goliath) don't need the most complex backstories.
MAIN REASON FOR POSTING: The recent closure of Kingda Ka has me worried for Demon. I know it's been discussed a lot over the years, but this time, I believe Demon might truly close. Think about it... SF closes two coasters at SFGAdv that clear up a big plot of land for a new coaster. (Just like what would happen if Demon were to close.) One of them was unpopular (like Demon before Wrath) and one of them was a massive wrecker holder for Pete's sake, which made it incredibly popular. (Demon may not have held any records at any point in its lifetime, but no doubt its popularity/ridership will increase after Wrath opens.) If SF was willing to close two coasters at once for a new coaster, I wouldn't put it behind SF to close a single coaster for a new coaster or two. All of this leads me to make a bold prediction, a rumor if you will, that Demon at SFGAm will close by the end of 2026, our park's 50th Anniversary, just like Green Lantern and Kingda Ka at SFGAdv. I was going to originally predict the closure by the end of 2025, but the ridership will probably be higher due to Wrath opening, so the higher-ups may want to see if this increase in ridership is long-lasting or simply temporary. Once the ridership decreases in 2026, the higher-ups will give the "clear" and Demon will be demolished.

I have some hope it will stick around, i think Viper at Magic Mountain will go sooner than Demon tbh

Definitely a little more worried about Demon than I was a couple months ago now that we are starting to see some closures made by new Six Flags... but Cedar Fair has held onto a handful of arrows, so not losing sleep over the (seemingly) increased chance.

I could see Corkscrew at Cedar Point getting sunset. That ride seriously has nothing going for it. And I generally like Arrow coasters

I agree about our Giant Drop! I LOVE That ride and will marathon it when the line is short! I hope it never leaves unless we get a Falcon's Fury type ride or a ring drop/gyro drop like at Kings Dominion/Kings Island.
Voodoo Drop is like a kid's Giant Drop! I rode it 3x this summer! ZERO line

Yeah that one is probably my least favorite Arrow I’ve ever ridden. Absolutely terrible ride that I won’t ever bother to ride agin lol.
I’d hate to see Viper (SFMM) or Demon go. Viper is so much better than Shockwave was in my opinion.
What’s crazy about Demon is that they had the fog and the scream working when you entered the cork screw in 2022/3, but I haven’t seen it working in 2024 at all. Not that it means anything, but it definitely was noticed.
GreatAmericanfox wrote:Also, I love Giant Drop's theming
Giant Drop has excellent theming, but they need to bring back the sound effects on the ride itself! Hearing that swirling wind and eagle cry near the top was amazing!
