Do you think the removal had anything to do with the one that got stuck upside for a long time ? Aren't they removing all the super loops from Six Flags parks?

No. Yes.

Frontier City will probably be one of the first parks dropped from the chain.
"During the year ended December 31, 2023, we determined that the carrying value of our leased theme park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Frontier City ("Frontier City") and our leased water park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hurricane Harbor Oklahoma City ("HHOKC") were not recoverable following multiple years of negative cash flows, as well as projected future cash flows that indicated the respective assets were not recoverable. Based on the analysis performed, we determined that the carrying value of Frontier City and HHOKC exceeded their fair value, resulting in a pre-tax, non-cash loss on impairment of $16.0 million and $7.0 million, respectively. The loss on impairment at Frontier City was allocated proportionally, in the amount of $8.8 million and $7.1 million, to Right-of-use operating leases, net and Property and equipment, net, respectively. The loss on impairment at HHOKC was allocated proportionally, in the amount of $4.3 million and $2.7 million, to Right-of-use operating leases, net and Property and equipment, net, respectively.
During the year ended January 1, 2023, we determined that our leased theme park in Houston, Texas, Hurricane Harbor Splashtown ("Splashtown") was not recoverable following multiple years of negative cash flows, as well as projected future cash flows that indicated the respective assets were not recoverable. Based on the analysis, we determined that the carrying value of Frontier City[sic] exceeded its fair value, resulting in a pre-tax, non-cash loss on impairment of $16.9 million. The loss on impairment was allocated proportionally, in the amount of $15.1 million and $1.8 million, to Right-of-use operating leases, net and Property and equipment, net, respectively."
Well, I’m back from my Cedar Point Trip. Two-day trip short, the park is way better run than Six Flags Great America, but you probably knew that already.
I just watched Theme Park Recommendation’s video, and supposedly, there have been rumors floating around that Roaring Rapids is the next ride that is going to be removed. No offense to Brandon at Theme Park Recommendations, he has great content and all, but I don’t think he has the full story. When I first heard that, I almost laughed. Is it weird that the park hasn’t reopened it yet? Yes, but it’s a TT2 situation I thought with the park awaiting a part. I also am wondering if anybody else has heard those rumors?
Personally, I would be on-board with Rapids getting removed. Plus, Roaring Rapids is in the Mardi Gras Section, the could name the Dive Coaster replacing Roaring Rapids “Cajun Cliffhanger.”

I LOVE the reuse of the name!

Yeah don’t take Brandon’s word on this one. This is the same guy who repeatedly said that the TTD redesign was going to break KK height record with its spike and would be from Intamin. Alright so maybe that was just his prediction but he still sure it was going to happen.

This is also the same guy who wants the dive coaster so badly between Buccener and Gokarts lmao
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back
Honestly - I didn't think I'd love the thought of a dive coaster there before until I read the reuse of that name. Well done.
& Brandon's videos are just a bunch of what we do here, talk talk talk & want want want. It's hardly ever factual or ever happens. It's his ideas & wants for any park he's talking about. Exactly what we do here for our park.
The Frontier City thing really breaks my heart. I hope they don't regret that with OKC growing.

Yeah, I'm almost positive rapids will bite the dust soon. Cedar Fair is almost certainly going to add a massive new roller coaster to Great America in order to boost attendance and roaring rapids sits on prime real estate.

Honestly, thank goodness. I never liked Rapids Rides, not even the one at Disney. I recently got the chance to ride Snake River Falls at Cedar Point and it is my new favorite water ride. X-Flight is the only coaster I actually wish wasn’t added to SFGAm in place of another ride, despite it being pretty good. Compared to log flumes, you can see everything but on Rapids Rides, it’s kind-of luck-based on what seat you get and how good your scenery is. Plus, I don’t know if I mentioned this already, but the recent incident with Roaring Rapids at Six Flags Over Texas that went viral on social media definitely hurt the ride type’s reputation. There’s also the Adventureland incident of course.
That being said, Roaring Rapids’ plot is about the same size as Valravn’s at Cedar Point so there’s potential for a coaster taller than Raging Bull at the park.

Yes! They could also build over the retention pond and give us an amazing out and back giga. Lots of great opportunities with that plot of land

What's your thoughts on the Speedway that used to be there?
