Who's going ? I think my son and I are going to make the trek. I know it'll be crowded, but it'll be a fun way to ring in the 2016 season with him. He's tall enough for Goliath, Eagle, etc. now, so he's pumped.
I've never gone on opening day. Do they do anything special ?
They don't do anything special. Have a backup plan for meals. Last year on opening weekend, most of the menu boards were not working, some dining pass scanners weren't working, and the untrained staff was completely overwhelmed. Wait times for most food lines were 60-90 minutes. Pack a lunch and eat in your car, or maybe you can get delivery to the pickup/dropoff area.
Best way to avoid food lines is to get lunch right at 11:30am and dinner right at 4:30pm. That's worked for me every time except for Fright Fest Saturdays, then dinner is absolutely hopeless
I would agree with DejaVu on this one. Opening Day hasn't been good since those $20 tickets started. Personally I'm not going and instead will be at Kings Island, because it's on the way back from SFOG and Dolly.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
They haven't posted the $20.00 tickets yet, but I'm sure they will I'll be there both days though no matter how packed it is.
EDIT: Checked again, Opening Weekend tickets this year are $24.99 with $29.99 tickets the following weekend. Then it goes to the normal $48.99 and up prices.
Unless if they did it in the past, then the only reason they did the $19.76 tickets was because it was the year they opened, and it was their 40th season.
Edit: The site has opening weekend at $25, and the next weekend at $30, then $50. This is all online, however, so prices may change at the park.
I think we'll be there! We have a busy weekend the following weekend so I would like to go opening.
Last year the food lines were pretty ridiculous, but we just grabbed some food outside the park. We definitely get our money's worth through the season with the dining pass so it's not a huge loss.
Does anyone know if you can buy the sports bottle for the 2016 season at any restaurant ? I asked someone working in County Fair food court last year at Fright Fest and he looked at me like I was crazy. I think it's a blue color sports bottle ?

^ The park announced at No Coaster Con the following locations would be renovated this year: Aunt Martha's (Strutters) Whizzer Pretzel (being replaced with a new coke kiosk) Oasis KIDZOPOLIS Snacks Fiesta Fries Claimjumpers Primo's Pizza (the location by Eagle's entrance is being turned into a second Totally Kickin' Chicken)
I was told either advocate day or opening day. My family might be doing something on those days, so it's one or the other. However, I see myself being busy on both days

Sorry for looking over your question. You cannot get the sports bottle for the next year unless you have a dining pass, at which you get it at select locations. Obviously, you will be able to get them at any soft drink stand this year.

So I'll have to get the daily one each visit ? I already have a red one from Fright Fest last year, so I assume I get a band each day I visit to get free refills for that day ? I assumed it would work like Brookfield Zoo where I buy a sports bottle for the 2016 season and it's free refills all year.
They should have all season sports bottles available. People that got 2016 season passes with dining during fright fest could get the all season sports bottle early, but I don't think you have to have the dining pass to get the all season sports bottle. I think every customer can purchase a 2016 all season sports bottle at any place that sells soft drinks once the park opens this season.
I'll be there Opening Day. Not sure what I'll be wearing yet either a blue Thunderbird shirt or the Beast or Banshee or The Voyage. But I will be there for sure. Requested the day off. Can't wait
