I was just on the website and am seeing nothing listed for the Grand Music Hall or the Pictorium. I know the Pictorium is not that popular anymore but it is a good place to cool off and /or wait out a rain shower. But whats up in he GMH?
When the entertainment page was first updated for 2015, it had this:
"The Stars of The Peking Acrobats® (Grand Music Hall)
Witness the amazing feats and acts of still of the Stars of The Peking Acrobats. Direct from China, this colorful troupe of international acts will astound and thrill!"
Now it has been removed. I see two possibilities here, either the park took it off the site for a later announcement, or whatever deal the park was working on with them fell through. If the latter is true, we'll probably see either Reflections or Dancin' In The Streets quickly return.
^ If "The Stars of The Peking Acrobats®" falls through, it will be Reflections or Dancin' In The Streets. They need something that they can get ready fast.
Well this makes no sense at all. Why would they take it off the site then? If they're holding back for a big announcement, why would they have the sign up?
Acrobats, they are okay I guess. I rather have the 70s & 80s show though.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
I know (meaning I have friends who have worked in the entertainment department and I have heard through them) that the park basically liquidated the entertainment department for this season, cutting street performers (other than characters) and having local bands take the small side stages. They contracted with another entertainment group, the acrobats, so that they didn't need to audition and hire individual performers for the season. If they were to bring back one of the in-house shows from other seasons, they will have to go through the audition process ASAP. If the acrobats did fall through, it seems like the park is SOL, in my opinion.
Went to the park for the first time this season last night. Park itself was operating just about as poorly as you'd expect, but there were a few high points. Most of the staff I came in contact with were very friendly, and the Peking Acrobats show was flat out awesome. Those people are incredible and I really enjoyed it.
