Revolving door of prices

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Is anyone else getting a little fed up with Their prices? Take for instance FF depending on which day you go the prices will be different. 32.50-49.99 WHEN YOU BUY ONLINE ONLY! 64.99 at the gate. I wish they would agree on a price and stick with it. At least the haunts are still the same 19.99 for regular and 59.99 for express. But seriously how are you supposed to plan and try and budget for an outing to the park any more? I am getting so tired of it.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think I'd rather pay more upfront for a single admission or season pass if the park would just reduce the food and drink prices to a more reasonable level. As it is now I'm stuffing myself on the drive to the park with a cooler in the trunk for a mid-visit lunch/dinner.

The idea of dynamic pricing is really the wave of the future. The major Orlando parks are already utilizing this type of model. Busier times of year = prices go up; Slower times of year = prices are lower...

Other venues (sporting events/concerts) operate the same way....prices for weekends tend to be more than say a weekday/weeknight.

It's actually a sound business practice if you're in it for the money.

All tourist attractions use this business model. When busy you raise your prices to make more money. It only makes sense to do so if you want bigger profits. As a hotel manager we do the same thing. During the summer season we raise rates to make more money and in winter we lower them because we know business will be slow. All tourist companies do this.

Yes but you have to admit that it is a pain in the ass especially if you are trying to budget your money.

^ How? I looked at the website and if you buy tickets online it has a calendar that tells you how much each day will cost. If you're budgeting money, just buy a ticket for a cheaper day. I don't get what the big deal is.

My idea is that they have low prices online so they can make the lines faster to get into the park.

^ I'd guess it has more do to with that if more people buy online, they don't have to pay as many people to work in ticket sales.

Both of those things might play a part, but I think it's mostly this - they don't really see a need to discount tickets at the park, because once you're there, you're there. Once you've already driven all the way to Gurnee and paid $25 parking, 99% of people will go ahead and pay for a ticket if it's $45 or $65, so why discount it?

This just in... 2015 is going to bring us...
A. The Great American SkyScreamer
B. Increased Admission Prices
C. Increased Parking Prices
D. More Gaping Holes

^Yeah that's a picture of SFGAm. You can see Superman in the background, and the drop tower might be Giant Drop.

So you would prefer to pay full price on the days of fright fest this year when the park is only open for like 4 hours? Differing prices is a good thing. That means it's lower. One price would not be $30 it would $62.
