If it just rains, no lightning or thunder, will it affect the rides? I'm going this weekend and it has a 30 percent chance of rain predicting showers during the day on both Friday and Saturday. I'm just worried it will shut down the rides.
Rain forecasts will usually affect the lines. Usually on days when rain is predicted it will be less crowded.Heavy rain with lightning will shut down most rides, but it's rare that a Thunderstorm will keep the rides closed the whole day.During light rain or a small drizzle Deja Vu and Whizzer will usually close down right away. But all the other rides usually operate in light rain.Hope I could help.
Dave couldnt be more right about DejaVu, I remember when i was at Six Flags back in September, i was seated and ready to launch on DejaVu, and it started raining pretty good, We of course had to leave the ride. On another note: Try riding Raging Bull, with a steady rain, I remember doing that and my eyes where bright red hurt like hell for a little while. Most of the rides however dont close due to rain, but as Dave mentioned DV and Whizzer do and are affected by rain.
The majority of the coasters are designated as "moderate rain" rides, which means they will operate up to moderate rain conditions (3 levels: light, moderate, heavy)There are exceptions however. Iron Wolf usually ceases operation because the feed wheels in the station get wet, and the train slides when trying to park. And as mentioned, DV and Whizzer. All of the coasters are "high profile" rides and will cease operation when the time from the sight of a lightning bolt to the sound of the thunder is 10 seconds or less (which would be 2 miles)
I remember going to fright fest last year and me and my friend Kim rode front car on Raging Bull and it started raining. Not bad, just like drizzling, but it was enough.. we got pelted in the face with rain and had windburn on our faces the next day. It was funny until it hurt.. haha
Need a break from college homework.. 2004 season, come faster!!
I remember last summer (2002) in about August. It was late, and it started down pouring while we were about to go on Raging Bull. Now night and pouring down rain on RB isn't so great you are trying your best to keep your eyes open and at the same time there isn't any way possible to see because of it being night time. It was weird though they kept RB and Giant Drop running and this was diffently heavy rain.
When I was there last year everything was open in heavy rain. Hmm... I wonder why they didn't close down. The lines were nonexistent though,so I was a happy camper.
